I was at the chicago auto show as well. I didn't like the eclipse concept because, they said it had a N/A v6 like the current eclipse. I was hoping they would go back to a turbo set up, maybe with AWD. Plus, I don't think the next eclipse will be as agressive as the concept car. Remember the old Eclipse concept car? I was disappointed when I saw the actual production model. I would be surprised if the production model looked anything like the new concept.

Its very true what you were saying. I was just commenting that i really liked the new style and design of the concept. In the Feb. issue of Car and Driver, they said that the production vehicle will be similar to the concept, but stripped of its "20-inch wheels, exotic headlamps, and side exit exhaust." But isnt that in fact how every concept is? Stripped from the expensive, powerful, luxurious properties so that it is actually affordable and an everyday type of car?
Also being stripped is the engine. The concept model did have a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain, which is nice, and (if im reading this correctly, which i like to think i am) does produce 268 hp in front and 201 hp seperately in the back. Does that make it four wheel drive? But like i said, that is getting stripped, and it would have been nice to have the turbo on the production, so you were also right on that. Very good points you made, i agree with you. So the reason i liked it the most, without getting technical, is because it looked pretty. Thanks for you reply!!!! |

You obviously know more about the concept than I do. I heard the speaker say that it had around 270 horsepower and it was front wheel drive. I must not have stuck around long enough to hear the rest. I do like the concept a lot. Especially the roof line, because it reminds me of the older eclipses. I remember the speaker saying that "this is pretty much what the new eclipse is gonna look like". It'll be interested to see how it will turn out. The compact market is pretty competitive now. I just hope it won't be similar to the current eclipse as far as the performance and engine choice.

Re: Mitsubishi Eclipse Concept E
i most definately agree. They said they tried to incorporate regular eclipse desings, such as the nose and b-pillar, we'll see how it comes out. thats cool you went to the auto show, i went on the first friday. That might have been the first day it opened. i had school off that day. Oh well, thanks again
