Re: supercharger instead of turbo?

You People Really Honestly Think Superchargers Are So Bad?

A Centrifugal Supercharger Has Over 50% Cooler Charge Air.
A Centrifugal Supercharger Utilizes Highly Efficient And Modern Turbo Compressors With Gear Drive For Propulsion.
A Centrifugal Supercharger Uses 5 Initial Hp To Spool Within 1000rpms.
A Centrifugal Supercharger Has The Ability To Be Intercooled For Denser Charges And Having Such Cooler Charge Air Its Easier To Cool Further.
A Centrifugal Supercharger Can Be Mounted On Any Side Of The Engine As Long As It Has A Belt Attached.
A Centrifugal Supercharger Can Achieve Over 40 Pounds Of Boost If Need Be.
A Centrifugal Supercharger Has Been Proven To Out Perform A Turbo System On V8s And Smaller Displacement Engines In Numerous Test By Lots Of Independant Sources.
A Centrifugal Supercharger Kit Would Cost You As Much As A Properly Designed Turbo Kit Of The Same Magnitude With Less Maintenance.

You Can Buy Universal Kits From Pro-charger And Adapt It To Any Engine Just Need Brackets, Pullies, Piping, And Oil Lines.

Re: supercharger instead of turbo?

if a supercharger is really that good then why would they make one for a 240. Why are turbos more popular than s/c's then

Re: supercharger instead of turbo?

Because Generally Superchargers Take Up Alot Of Room And Have Alot Of Development Time..... The Other Big Factor Is Product Following And Hype.

Everyone Know The Effectivness Of A Turbo And Thats What Everyone Wants So Why Reinvent The Wheel And Build A Supercharger Kit For A Heavily And Wide Spread Turbo Supported Car?

Here I Pose This.... With Less Boost And No Intercooler The 350z Supercharger Kit From Procharger Creates More Useable Hp And Torque Than A The Greddy Turbo Kit That Has More Boost And A Intercooler And Costs Over $600 Less.... WHY?

THE ANSWER IS LESS HEAT, MORE DENSITY, NO LAG, FULL BOOST THROUGH OUT ALMOST THE ENTIRE RPM RANGE, AND LESS UNDER HOOD HEAT FROM THE TURBO RESTRICTION.

I'VE GOT A BUDDY WHO HAS PROCHARGERS COMING OUT OF HIS ASS (IS SPONSERED) I'LL SEE IF I CAN GET AN OLD ONE FROM HIM AND TRY AND ADAPT IT TO MY FRIENDS KA24DE...

Re: supercharger instead of turbo?

Yuh... I heard that SC's don't have much lag? Is that true?

Re: supercharger instead of turbo?

All The Supercahrged Cars I've Driven Depending On Gear Reduction In The Supercharger Were Relatively No Lag, You Felt It Almost Instantly Like Nos. Certifugal Superchargers Obviously Have More Lag Than A Roots Blower Because It Has Piped Travel Path To The Intake Rather Than Direct But It Still Doesn't Need Heat Build Up Or Exhaust Pressure To Spin Up Its All Relative To Gear Reduction And Engine Speed. There Is A Procharger Ls1 Drag Car That Has 1500whp On 22 Psi And Its Fully Spooled By 1800 Rpms.

Re: supercharger instead of turbo?

turbo would be the easiest and best bang for buck route....remember s/c take power to make power, turbos just run off of the exhaust (both use HP but turbos use less). I've noticed (and im probably not the only one) that usually USUALLY you see imports and smaller displacement cars being turboed and bigger displacement/american cars being S/C because they get more out of the s/c because they have the umph. Thats how i view it at least....american cars are s/c and imports are turbo. Besides there are numerous turbo kits readily available for the 240 and once you get everything priced out they will end up being pretty similar in price. S/C have less parts to deal with so they will be more reliable...but you dont get the same power outputs from a s/c as you do a turbo. Im not saying that a S/C 240 is stupid or cool.....it would be unique and awesome and power to ya...but if your just looking for more power and a easy way then probably turbo it......but then again im biast towards turbos cuz i love the sound!!!!!!!!!!

Re: supercharger instead of turbo?

YEAH AND I EXPLAINED THAT IT SUCKS A WHOLE 5 HP.... IF YOU KNIFE EDGE YOUR CRANK YOU CAN GAIN THAT 5 HP BACK. A CENTRIFUGAL SUPERCHARGER IS BASICALLY A BELT DRIVEN TURBO AND THEY HAVE BEEN PROVEN TO MAKE MORE POWER THAN CONVENTIONAL TURBOS AND FASTER TOO. THATS WHY THE 6000HP DRAGSTERS USE TURBOS RIGHT? NOPE, THEY USE SUPERCHARGERS.

WWW.PROCHARGER.COM - CND IT USED TO BE ON THERE.

Re: supercharger instead of turbo?

yea and dragsters r 4cyls??? didnt think so....S/C have little to no lag because they run off of the belts....so when the engine revs up and goes faster...tada so does the S/C . the turbo has to wait for enough exhaust gases to get spooling so there is lag there.....musicsurfman u were talking about the ls1 DRAG CAR 1500whp ....yea thats another american big displacement engine and a whole shitload of R&D stuck into it....i dont know a crap load about S/C but i know enough to get me by ....i should have stated that earlier but yea just lay off.
