Re: Guess What I Just Bought

Depends on what type of insurance your going to get. Only liability don't claim the 8. Full coverage claim the 8.

i actually did think about the turbo, but id have to rebuild the entire engine cuz it has 144k miles on it. plus do you know where i can get a new turbo kit for this engine? prices?

Yeah just rice it all out!!!

Well considering the 7.5" rear in the 4 bangers came with 3.73's stock.... Then I'd say 4.10's will make very little difference with that low hp motor. But anything helps. Just not worth the money IMO.
Not so, the 7.5" rear also was equipped with 2.73, 3.08, and 3.55, ratio gears.

wtf? 8 plugs on a 4 cylinder?
I remember reading about this not too long ago. I wish I could remember where it was so I could reference it.

Anyway, welcome to the clan SIKCRX, even if it is a 4cyl. There's still stuff you can do for performance mods. Check out www.brotherspeformance.com they have a bunch of 4cyl engine parts. Header, cam, exhaust, etc.

well you don't want to turbo your motor. You would want to pull a turbo motor out of a T-bird or turbo mustang. The factory turbo motor is made for the turbo with the right duriable parts and compression. You would need the wiring and ecu also. Ex-girlfriends dad put one in his 84 ranger and it was pretty cool.

I agree go get a 2.3L turbo engine from a Thunderbird turbo coupe also grap the rear end out of the turbo coupe they had 8.8's with 3:73's, There is a wrecking yard out in Evanston Wyoming that has an 84 mustang with a turbo 2.3L I think it was 84 and he was selling the motor I don't remember how much he wanted.

Hey dude, I saw scrap fixing up the stock 4banger idea, and go make a SVO Mustang replica! Turbo 4cyl! Go to google and look it up.. Pretty darn sweet. And you won't be just another typical 5.0 foxbody. Them SVO's are pretty uncommon.. I've only seen 2 on the street in my life.

And ya.. someone mentioned grabbing the rear end out of a turbocoupe. I say go with that too.. No point in upgrading the weak 7.5" open rear end. Prices probaly will end up very similar by swapping out the entire rear end for a turbocoupe one versus brand new 4.10's. Plus.. having posi lets you leave two lines of rubber instead of the weak ass single line of rubber when ya burn out.
