kinda on topic ... is there still any companies that do model of the month clubs? ... i remember being signed up on one when i was a kid .. and would get 2 models a month in the mail for like $8 a month ... if i didn't want them for that month i could send them back and not pay ... and they would send 2 more out the next month ...

i'm only 16 i try not to spend 30 bucks....usually the model is 20 bucks and 20 bucks....for paint and other goodies.

I try to spend hardly anything. But its hard so I end up spending around 50 or so. On one hand, it sucks, on the other, it rocks.

I keep a separate account for modeling. Whatever money is in there is what I spend on modeling and related activities. I put in about $50-$100 each month, plus whatever money I get on the side (Ebay, etc). This way, the wife doesn't complain about me spending too much; it never affects the budget. Recently I 've only spent about $30/month. It's just supplies, no kits. Kit buying comes in bulk (3+ at a time), unless I find an OOP kit I want. Besides, I have too many unbuilt kits right now anyway.

$2k?!? Damn, that's a lot.

Credit card = Evil. Just use a regular ol' checking account. If it empties, no more models. Though I stop if it gets under $100. Leave that just in case some rare kits pop up.

Did you have to mention the price match thing, I have to deal with that at work About 7-8 years ago I was spending any where from $360-400 if not more, but then again I was building mostly hydraulic cars, for people and turning around and selling the bulk of them, I guess you could say it was like a business, but out of my bedroom in my parents house. Any more I might spend $100 at most, you know bills and such now that I am 24 years old, I don't have the money I used to, plus things got real expensive. I think someone needs to get some accounts with a few vendors, help themselves and all of us out, but there should be a fee for using that account as well so not everyone can order off of it. Idon't know I was just babbling again

It just depends on how many kits I'm building a month. Sometimes I spend about $500 a month, and sometimes, I only spend about $30 or so. Just really depends on how fast I build, and what I want to do to the kit.

I just started on building again and just buying supplies alone i spent about 100US this month. 200 on cars/rims.

I'll spend however much I need to for each model which can be built within one month or spill over into a couple month build.

Its a great hobby, you can enjoy and spend little money (as far as automotive related hobby's this is CHEAP) or you can get insane and spend $100+ for every model.. it all depends. I am now at the point where its expensive.. $100+ per model (usually)
