What's the most miles someone you know ever put on a car?

I have a co-worker that has a 92 Toyota Camry with 210,000 miles on it with the original engine and running strong.

my dad is the warehouse manager for an electric company, and some of his Chevy p/u's have had over a million miles, i can vouch for that too

Well my brothers 1989 BMW 525IS has 320,000 miles on it. The oil is leaking and to fix it it costs him more than the car itslef, so its going to die soon.

The Guiness record of the most miles was on a volvo 80 something and it was around 2,500,000. 2 million and a half miles, around that.

I saw the mega mileage Volvo, it's a P1800 by the way, when I sold Volvo's while going through college. The guy was doing a tour around the country for Volvo with the car. At that time he was still second to a Mercedes, but has since passed him I believe.

Most mileage on cars that I know of or have owned.

My dad had a 1981 Ford F100 300ci L-6/3 spd manual with 460,000 miles on it before it needed a rebuild. I did basic maintenance on this one towards the "end". This thing is a legend in my family. And, my dad treated it and drove it like he hated it. It was a work truck period, and virtually never went anywhere without hauling or towing something...often much heavier than the truck was rated to haul or carry.

I have a 1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with 198,000 miles on the original engine and turbo. It still runs technically speaking, but not well since I fragged the turbo by turning up the boost a little too much. Might still run well if I hadn't made that ooops.

My sister has a 91 Ford Escort (1.9L slug) with just under 200,000 miles (last time I checked) on the original motor. I do her basic maintenance for her, and the car runs great. Actually, she is bringing it over this weekend because it sounds like she may have a leaking injector.

And, my dad currently has a 96 Taurus that is somewhere over 200,000 miles on the original Vulcan 3.0 (He told me it rolled over last year but I couldn't tell you when or how many miles now)

That's over a million miles total on the original engines in four Ford vehicles.

A friend of mine just got her mom's hand-me-down 1989 (or is 1990) Toyota 4Runner stick shift. her parents had the car since it was new...that bad boy has 220K miles on it and STILL has the original clutch! Now that's impressive!

426,000 miles on a 87 Ford Ranger 5-speed, I doubt any of the parts are still original.

I've seen a lot of the GM 4.3 v6 last a lot of miles. My uncles safari van had 312,000mi when he sold it and recently I saw the people he sold it to still driving it around. My parents astro van had around 200,000mi on it when they sold it still running strong.

Well my mom's 4.3 V6 in her 99 Blazer has 72K miles on it, and honestly, I doubt it will live to 150K miles. She had an 89 Blazer with the 4.3 that went to 180K when she traded it in. My uncle has an 89 4.3 that has 220K and still going strong. I just don't think the newer ones are built with the same quailty as the old ones.

Sorry to double post but BTW my other uncle had an 89 Acura Legend 4 door V6 with 240K miles on it when he wrecked it. It was still going strong and the insurance company gave him nearly $4K for it.

1988 Honda Civic...4dr sedan...260,000 and still going strong...and at 35+ MPG...there is something to be said for economy and not wasting money...
