Re: How much will the Evo 8 cost in 4-6 years?

the only reason i am getting the lancer mr in 05 because of the damn 6sp and close gear ratio. who cares if it has lighter weight and bigger turbo. i am gonna have over 550whp when i send that car to the guys at ams.

Really. A car is an investment that you are forced to live with. It trancends performance, so looks are an important factor also. Would you drive a 300 hp Yugo? Probably not. You wouldn't spend 100 bucks on an ugly hooker would you? You wouldn't spend 200 bucks on an ugly pair of shoes just because they were light would you? Now, would you spend $20,000 on an ugly car?

I find it that the people who most common refer to looks as unimportant either drive ugly cars, have no cars, or have no sense of style in any factor of their personal life.

just my

NO 97 or 98 LIGHTNING!!!

HEY EVOlutionary, hate to break up your little evo thread but please inform yourself before speaking. i registered on here just to say this so here it goes. FORD DIDNT MAKE A LIGHTNING IN 97 or 98. 1st generation was 93-95. 2nd generation started in 99 with 360 hp and then in 01 stepped up to 380 hp. 05 will we gen 3. it doesnt take long to get a bunch of L owners on your case so watch it, we are very punctual on all factual information. and thyou cant compare prices from gen 1 to gen to, its 2 different vehicles, and i dare you to find a 99+ L in good shape and under 40000 miles for less than 20000

Sorry Mr. Ford Lightning expert. I don't pay too much attention to them so I may have been off by a couple years on their production. I bought my DODGE RAM in '99 and at that time I looked at a few used Lightnings. I guess my memory didn't serve me correctly as to when they were produced. As far as used prices, here is what I found in 2 minutes -

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...489795916&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...489586437&rd=1

As you can see the first one is for sale for under $20000. The second one, near the bottom, states that the AVERAGE retail value is $20,900 for that particular vehicle. That means that many sell for under this level. I am sure that I could find many more examples, but I don't have time.

Sounds like you are just upset because your precious Lightning with nearly 100 more HP than my little 4-banger is so much slower. Maybe if you add some NAWS (said with a fast and furious accent) then you can keep up.

EVOlutionary.

I don't think you will find one for under 20K+ in 2006. I can tell you from my personal search for my Evo most dealers in the Boston area are selling for 2K to 5K over sticker.

I am 35 years of age and most kids under 25 could not cover the payment and insurance. The dealer told me the average age of a Evo buyer in the states is 30.

I am sure there are plenty of rich kids driving better cars then Evo's, But lets be realistic!
I am talking about 85% or the norm not the 15% or the exceptions.
Why would I freak I am happy for them, just have a lot more respect for someone that works for there stuff.
