Even if he WAS into modding it all the way (which a new racer would NOT want to do):

3000GT's do not have more power, and are not faster

get your facts straight, the fastest street legal DSM is in the 8's, and there sure as hell aren't any 3000GT's there.

1st Takayoshi Iwasaki Zesty Racing Japan 1995 Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo 6-Speed AWD 1.496 10.561* 135.5 mph* 3.1L + HKS GT2835 (x2)

and none of them have more than 750AWHP... where on the DSM side, go tell J. Shepherd that his dsm is slow and has less than 750whp. street legal.

Also, '20 grand to get into 10's' is BS. it would take maybe 6-8k if you knew what you were doing, where in a 3000GT it would probably cost nearer to 15 or 20.

exactly, the 3000gt is a lot heavier than an DSM as its got the v6 instaed of a 4 banger, and take $1500 into both cars and which will be faster and have more parts into it ?

the 3000gt is for rich boyz who dun know anything bout tuning, jus wana stock car that looks good, cuz they kant handle a DSM's power and potential

no dude, dun know if this has already been said but 10 sec eclipse's are easy to make, and only with $$4000 to $$5000 tops and a driver who knows how to drive , where as 10 sec 3000gts .... and i really dont kare to find out cuz there not worth the time an money in my eyez

well if u want an "unbaised" opponion u really shouldn't put this kind of a question in an Eclipe board. Post another one of these threads in the 3,000 gt board and see what info they have to offer. Then post this thread again in a general car section of this site and see what everyone has to say. Thats the only way u can get a good opponion on which car is better for racing.

The bottom line is you can get a DSM in the 12s for just over 1000 bucks. even on my fat ass 2g, I only spent 1800 including a palm pilot for the logger Its cheap and easy. IT takes a bit more work to get the almighty ttv6 to do the same. 3kgt trannies arent even rebuildable, unless that changed recently. Break one of those, and you could put 3 DSMs in the 12 for the cost of a new tranny in those cars. A turbo upgrade requires that you buy not one but 2 turbos, etc. Not cost effective at all.

3000GT if you want to look cool, gst if you want to go fast, 3kgt is a horrid race car.

go with the vr-4 it can pump out way more power than the gsx. Dynamic racing just came out with a twin t3?t4 turbo which pumps out 500hp each. the vr-4 also handles alot better and will take the gsx.
