Re: Are MKIV Supras overpriced?

they stopped production for the US in 1998 but continued it in Japan for a few more years. overpriced....yeah, probably a little but its supply and demand. plus how many cars have stock blocks than can handle well over 700hp? its a great base to start on. you can get mid 400whp for about a grand. most other cars if you wanted to push serious hp you would have to do a lot of engine build up first. may be a little pricey but a pretty rare and impressive car for the $ in my opinion.

LOL @ the guys who think Toyota stopped making Supra's in 1998 because they didn't keep selling them in the US. Grey importers are importing the 2002 supra's to England.

the price is probably going to stay high for a long time.

Their value is based on their demand and the fact that there aren't that many around. So, the price goes up.

overpriced. there's much better cars out there, and an import company can get you a newer skyline r34 for about 28 grand

Re: Are MKIV Supras overpriced?

It is kind of ironic that MkIV Supra TT's sell so "high" used, because as many in here likely remember when they first came out as new cars they were sticker priced high as he** and those things stuck to the dealership lots like glue.

I worked for a Volvo dealership in the mid/late ninties, and we had a sister Toyota/Lexus dealership next door. I well remember when Toyota eventually had to drop the sticker price on the TT waaaaay down, as in way over ten grand lower, in order to move the things.

People who had bought Supra's before, and now had a year old Supra that booked for more than someone could buy a new one for...they were kinda upset.

As I recall the sticker-price on a TT Supra before the "reduction" could get pretty close to fifty large. Well over what a Vette would set you back and enough to make you wonder if that 911 wasn't more interesting.

Used it has developed quite the following. But new? Someone in Toyota development was smoking something.

Re: Are MKIV Supras overpriced?

well, that tranny in the 96 up TT could take 900 hp without opening it up which is a bonus.
tranny alone is work 5k.
Don't get me wrong, it is a nice car, but too much for a weekend racer like me. more of a stockbrokers toy IMO.

How exactly can they do that when the car itself costs near 50k and that's just the base if I'm not mistaken so it would be much more for it to be shipped here and then made street legal it's damn near impossible to get a r34 GTR over in NA for any less than 100k.
