Do what you want to do. I am not a huge fan of SOHC engines, even the Vtec ones. I perfer the DOHC 1.8 liters. I like the much greater torque they offer, as this is important to me. If you go SOHC, definatly get a 1.6 Liter Vtec one. If you think it's worth it, then go for it. If you don't don't. I really am not a fan of swappin in a sohc motors, some of the reasons I listed above. But that's my preferencel, don't let my dislike for these motor's make up your mind for you. I'd rarther have the USDM equivalent motor of those two (ZC & D16Z6), but that's me. Still, do what you want to do, not what I want to do.

Re: Sohc Vtec Is This A Deal

THANKS Yes i am definatley a fan of dohc motors over sohc motors ESPECIALLY DOHC VTEC ones.. Much better but i wont be swapping till spring, and my engine d15b2 wont run. So this is like a bandaid till spring when i put the cast on. Kind of know what i mean??

For that price I would go with a JDM D15B or find a Y8 in your area.

I understand what you are saying. I understand you not wanting to spend a small fortune on a "temporary band-aid." Still, I would keep looking around to see what other deals I could dig up. Just make ure that the total cost to swap in your SOHC band-aid...that includes parts, install, etc...doesn't end up being too much. I am guessing you can't afford the swap for a DOHC yet? As to the JDM D15B...I personally wouldn't get that either. Weather it's the Vtec JDM D15 or not. I had a D15B7 in my car when I first got it.....gutless thing. Even the EX motor motor would have provided a bit of relief. Once I got the LS in there though, that gave me torque more along the lines of what I wanted. The light weight civic moves with that in it. Anyways, keep us posted on what you do.

Re: Sohc Vtec Is This A Deal

Okay i think i know what you mean. Instead of spending a little more money to get more power for my "temp bandaid" I should just get something to solve the problem. Oh i got it just get like a stock d16a6 or another d15b2 from like a totaled or wrecked car. Okay i gotcha.
I already have 2 engines that i could use. a b16a1 and a k20 but i have just the engine and tranny on the b16 and the k20 is out of a accident so i have everything except a bolt in kit.

Okay thanks for all your help.
I just need to find a cheaper engine know.
