Mine got stuck this summer, it can be returned if I help it manually, but I need to replace it, I bought a used gear and motor from a guy who had to cut the arm on it so I hope that it's just the motor. But I was wondering if I have to remove the whole gadget to be able to change the motor? Seeming that it is so hard to get the arm off!?

There is a recall on many of these when I worked at the dealership. If your van falls under this recall they will fix it for free. No motoin most cases. This is if you have a 92 vintage style van or in that range. The next gen van does not apply.

CALL YOUR DEALER AND GIVE THEM YOUR VIN NUMBER AND THEY CAN RUN A FUNCTION TO SEE IF YOU HAVE OUTSTANDING RECALLS. MANY DO AND DO NOT REALIZE IT.

Dodge Caravan 96

I have yet to find a solution to my rear wiper problem. Its not the fuse, the motor, ground problem or the switches. I went to a junk yard and got an almost brand new rear motor for $25 and replaced the old one and nothing. Has anyone actually fixed there rear wiper problem with some of these symtoms?

BTW, I've read on several post that is very hard to replace the rear wiper motor. People breaking there rear glass trying to take off the arm and stripping the teeth or cutting there wiper arm.

Did you guys know that there is a lock on the arm. Push it up with a flat screwdriver and it comes right off like butter. Its very easy, at least on my car, 5 to ten minutes.

Have a 98 Grand Caravan SE, My rear wiper died, replaced the motor and still no go, finally replaced the little circuit board behind the controls and it all works perfect.

If the wiper works but stays straight up, you may want to take off the little round cover at the end of the wiper arm, there is a screw in their and once you tighten it this may take care of your problem.

Re: Rear Wiper Problem

I had mine quit after selecting intermittent then full on and back to intermittent (changed my mind twice)in about 1 second. It wiped one time then quit alng with the washer. The pilot lite came on when I tried to run it but it would not run. The BCM sensed a short by doing this and shut it down.
I pulled the IOD fuse for about 15 minuites and it fixed the problem. I guess this proceedure resets the BCM Body Control Module. Why they dont just fuse/switch/motor/ground circut it is beyond me!

Re: Rear Wiper Problem

great this is the other thing wrong with my van other than the driver side door, sounds like it might be more work! would the motor from a 1990 work in a 1991?
