I'd like to know, cause I wouldn't mind picking up a cheap daily driver.
It was a 97 Z24. I drove it and everything. The only problem was it had 240k miles on it. But it was perfect. Here in az.

$1500 for a '97 Cavalier Z24 with 240k miles on it? 240k miles within 6 years? That's some 40 thousand miles a year! And you're saying you'd be perfectly willing to strap a turbo onto an engine with 240k miles on it?! Man, he'd need a new engine to get near to stock performance, let alone adding a turbo. He'd spend more in fixing that car than it would cost to buy a brand new one...

I'm also somewhat looking for a car to suit my needs like that, and after being driven around in my friends 1992 Nissan NX2000, I fell in love with the SR20DE motor. I wouldn't mind picking up a '93 240SX 5spd and dropping a SR20DE or SR20DET in it. I'm looking for something come summertime though, not right now. I was also looking at foxbody mustangs, but no good for snow. 1st gen DSMs are sweet too, especially the turboed AWD monsters. Ever think about a Toyota MR2? Those are neat little cars, a few friends and I were thinking about buying one and turning it into a team car. I just need something to replace my 1990 Plymouth Sundance w/ 2.5L TBI N/A motor, and I want speed, much the same as you do, on a budget.

That's my

he said winter, does winter equal snow? maybe once in a couple months but drive in the winter doesn't equal driving in the snow (unless minnesota snows ALL the time.) does it?

otherwise thats the reason why i said you were

unless that z24 had a cummins diesel under the hood......that thing was as far from perfect as pamela anderson from natural breasts....

and stop saying stuff like "slapping a turbo" unless you plan to have that engine for only a week you don't "slap" anything....i though we went over this in another thread.....

proper turbocharging is done with time money and knowlege....you don't "slap" anything on an engine without proper care...

Re: Need cheap/semi fast car

I've driven both of my Camaros through snow, but as long as you don't drive like a bat out of hell, and you know how to drive on snow, you should have no problem with any rearwheel drive car, let alone a Mustang or a Camaro. Key thing is, you gotta know how to drive on snow, most people that wreck any car don't...

Re: Need cheap/semi fast car

1g DSMs are cool, especially the gsx. 13s for 4 grand. mk3 supras, 1g mr2s, 200nx/se-rs, and 240sxs are all good cars as well. I wouldn't suggest a cavilier because they tend to not be very reliable. Though he only needs it for 2 years... how about a 1st or 2nd gen rx-7? It won't last, but it will be fun while it runs...

If you want to be original, and not just a faceless nobody out on the road, try a Volkswagen Corrado SLC. They can be had for under 5k, and nothing is more satisfying than VR-6 power. It has love-it-or-hate-it styling (personally I love it), but it will turn heads regardless.

Re: Need cheap/semi fast car

I have a 1992 Lumina Z34 that I'm looking to sell. I'm located in Rochester, NY. I'm looking to get $3,000 o.b.o.

you can see pics here...

http://www.cs.rit.edu/~glr7495/z34/z34.html

Now for the bad parts...the things I know, or think I know might need some kind of work...

You'll see the pic of the slight dent in the hood, it is barely noticeable except from certain angles. It was caused by a fould ball at a baseball game. The black part of the cowl could use a slight touch up with some black paint, and the right rear brake rattles a bit. I have replaced the pads and rotors, and it still does it. I'm looking to change the caliper here soon, but they only cost $45 for a new one, so I'd just give ya like $100 off the price if I don't have that fixed by then. The "brake" light has been on for a while. It is quite possible that it has to do with the bad caliper in the back. Not sure though, it could just be a bad sensor. There is a slight stain on the passenger front seat that you will see in the pics also. Other than that, she runs really strong, and the tranny shifts perfectly. The car has 8X,000 miles on it. Alternator was changes about 4 months ago. Timing belt has already been changed about 15,000 miles ago. As I said, there are new pads and rotors on the back. I also have a new fuel filter that I haven't installed yet. I was just going to throw it in there as preventative maintenance. It's an easy swap, I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Let me know if you are interested...

A subaru 2.5 RS quick AWD its what i would get. Also the DSM was a good idea if its the GSX cause that also has AWD.
