Re: Re: perhaps I should be committed...
Replicant, I'm aware you're much better at controlling your testonsteronal urges than most of us, but still...haven't you ever been tempted to get someone off your ass by giving them a nice little red-light surprise?
Also, I feel that I should tell you that I don't break check everyone who doesn't ride 4 seconds or more behind me. Brake Checking is a last ditch scenario I reserve for people who's headlights I can't see in my rearview mirror. It's people who get close enough for me to see the reflection of my car in their pupils that get the brake check. If I brake check someone, I'm not the one that's playing stupid in control of a lethal weapon. It's a cause and effect thing...if you get brake checked, you're obviously too close... Now, don't take that as harshly as it sounds. when I say 'you' i mean it in the hypothetical sense, not in the literal sense...

no argument, just mature debate.
"treat others as you'd like to be treated." Could you not retroactively apply that maxim to the person on your tail? Perhaps next time I'll reverse pass them and then start tailing them, and see what happens. it could be an interesting study, to say the least. ![]() (I just hope this subject doesn't get out of hand)

Not a bad idea
Pull over, tail them, less dangerous, and effective at making your point

I had a similar situation happen to my bro and i in the sense that some punk ass bitch and his friend were cutting us off, tailing us, and throwing shit at our car. They hit our car with a water bottle when we were at a red light. When they did that i got out of the car and started bitching them out...but then the light turned green. The only thing running through my head at the time was which one do i beat the shit out of first. It wasnt the most mature thing to do and definitely not the smartest, but that was a year ago and i wouldnt do it now.
The only way to keep that from happening is have a faster, louder car than the other guy. Or just keep a paintball gun with you at all times lol

Re: perhaps I should be committed...
My final word on this is... if someone manages to actually catch me up and want to pass me on the open road, he or she are welcome to. The last thing I need is to have some idiot playing wingman at the crosscountry pace I pedal at.
The secondary roads to the major locations that I do distance driving to are challenging, twisty and I am very familiar with courtesy of many trips and a photographic memory including surface and camber. I don't have the quickest car in the world but I travel quickly and safely along routes where I am aware of the risks. If someone else wants to travel quicker (and there have been folk who have) then "go for it." I've just redone my Emergency First Aid Response refresher course so should the unforseeable occur, well then you may be fortunate that I'll be possibly be one of the first to arrive. As for the whole road rage thing - I had the misfortune to have some idiot abuse the crap out of me when he failed to give way. I did a reasonably stupid thing and I got out of my car to get his details - which only ended with me receiving more abuse. Unfortunately for the other driver, he was wearing a uniform and was in a work vehicle - so the next day I fronted up to the CEO of the business with my complaint about the driver. I provided a letter of complaint and discussed the inappropriateness of the response of their employee - and I asked what they were proposing to do about it. Now I'm no freshman - I wear a suit to work, I work in management for a large company and my job includes convincing people to do things so I'm persuasive, educated, well-spoken and present well. The result of their internal investigation was that I got a letter of apology and the guy no longer works for the company as it was considered serious misconduct as he'd made the rather stupid mistake of going a little too far... |

Re: Re: perhaps I should be committed...
good Lord Replicant...if half the stories about you keeping your cool are true, than a shaolin master could learn a trick or two from you. If the rest of the world was as level headed as "registering an official complaint" and not "I'm gonna kick his fucking ass" than the world would be an easier place for me to live in...and take over....*shrug*

Re: perhaps I should be committed...
Dustin
Things to remember when dealing with idiots: 1 "Don't get mad - get even" Idiots make mistakes and don't consider the consequences - on the other hand most of use have time and the advantage of intelligence. You just have to be cunning and carry things through. 2 "Revenge is a dessert best served cold" Revenge is most sweet when you deliver to someone unsuspecting - in their naivety they think they have won but in the end if you have the satisfaction of dealing them a killer blow then you can walk away... 3 "Even if you clock the guy and he deserves it, he'll still wake up a dickhead..." My martial arts instructor works as a bouncer. He sincerely believes that you should avoid physical violence if possible. At the end of the day, you simply want the idiot out the door and out of your world. You only ever respond with violence if there is no other option - you are far better off keeping whatever skills you have hidden, maintain a level head and maintain a vigilant and detached outlook. 4 "Self defence is only the exercise of reasonable force. If you are skilled in martial arts then the expectation is that you should be able to restrain or defend yourself at a different level and without weapons." 5 "Never count out the fact that idiots may be in groups especially if you are on your own, also remember that if you are smart you can worry them more than they worry you. If you have to attack, do so swiftly and decisively and at the first opportunity get out of harm's way" I haven't thrown a punch except at training in years and I intend to keep it that way. I played competitive level sports for some time and even in the indoor and summer league level soccer my skipper still gives me the job of sorting out the bad-tempered and prickly opponents. It's far easier to play with their minds than to try to outpace someone 10 or more years younger... |

if someone rides your ass...just change lane to the right and let them pass. if your on the slow lane...exit. if its a one lane road...pull over. its just being a defensive driver. your protecting not only yourself but also the other drivers as well. if he/she still rides your ass...thats probably when you can slam on the brakes from 70mph+ to 0.

None of you have any friends like mine then. He has had... several incidents where he's lost his temper entirely. Trust me, you don't want a 280 pound gorilla pissed off at you when you cut him off on the road. I actually saw this happen and I wish to GOD that I had a video camera when it happened. Comin down a back road in our town, my friend was cruising at about 70 or so when we see some guy in a Benz that looks like he's gonna pull out of his driveway. Well, instead of waiting for us to go by the guy pulls out right in front of us and my friend has to slam his brakes on. He goes into a blind ragem, hauls ass around the guys side and forces the guy off the road, gets out, (this is no bullshit), puts his fist through the guys driver window and punches him in the face. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen in my life. Needless to say, I don't do anything to piss him off...

Re: perhaps I should be committed...
Replicant- I have a feeling you and I could have a long, friendly discussion about a topic like this for a long time. I also tend to avoid violence but I'm more than capable of holding my own. Instead of "I'm gonna kick his fucking ass" I prefer long, drawn out, overly-complex and thought out revenge schemes.
I love the mental challenge of manipulating others into doing the dirty work. It really helps to pump up that ego and "i really AM better than these clods" attitude.

revenge is sweet. but you should also learn to let it go sometimes. a lot of people are idiots and you taking revenge on them just makes you more of an idiot than they are. just my
