and americaneagle hit my other point as well (i guess i have no original ones...), its a simple way to free up hp.

imports can sound great, they can sound like shit.

domestics can sound great, they can sound like shit.

Re: what i dislike about the import scene

I specifically said civic because I realize there are some nice sounding imports out there but all I see are civics buzzing around with muffler tips the size of my tire.

Re: what i dislike about the import scene

I am guilty of being noisy...

I just put the new motor in ran just a glasspack that exited right underneath the car. I tell ya I couldn't even stand it, people around town said I had a shitty exhaust lol. I did find a lot more people did want to race me

Re: what i dislike about the import scene

My biggest complaint would be the completely ridiculous hp claims some ricers make. Although, to be fair you get these in the domestic scene as well.

I suppose my problem is people in any camp who have no idea what they are talking about..and are so stupid they don't know it. Unfortunately for you import guys right now imports are hot so you have most of the losers.

As a Ford guy I remember when the V-8 fox body Mustang was the thing (If I hear one more weenie say 5-oh like it's the title of a rap song I am gonna go ballistic) and we had all the losers running around.

Just an FYI to the import guys who know what they are doing. Even when the import fad winds down (And they all cool down from time to time), if something Ford becomes the popular trend in their place we don't want the dorks back...okay?...you can keep 'em....lol

Only downside to being popular in the auto world is it is some kinda' loser magnet.

i never thought of it that way.

but it does make sense. the bigger the numbers (especially w/ younger crowds), the more "newbies" there will be.

very valid points.

There has been some EXCELLENT arguments presented here already, so I won't go over those, but I would just like to point out that you shouldn't just stereotype the "import scene" with this, as I see just as many Escorts, Focuses, Probes, Cavaliers, Berettas, Neons, Stratuses, Avengers, making the exact same noise.

Now if you had said the "sport compact scene", then yeah, I completely agree...

lol. When my friends muffler fell off the car, we decided to go cruising around at night. We had so many people wanting to race us My mothers car had her muffler going too and it was extremely loud. She had a lot of people try to race her.

Moral of the story, if you want to race lots, take off the muffler or get a "ricey" sounding exhaust.

So imports are the only cars alowed to be modified, or are you calling the modding scene the import scene?

That's a good point. Remember when the Vipers first debuted? Those side exit exaust systems made them sound like a UPS truck.
