Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Do Europeans drive trucks?

- VW Golf GTI = Germany: 24.200€
Price in Norway: 45.000€

-Saab 9-5 Aero Estate: Germany: 40.200€
Price in Norway: 72.000€

-Audi A8 6,0: Germany: 107 000€
Price in Norway: 220 000€

-Porsche Cayenne Turbo: Germany: 87 000€ (101.880,- (inkl. 16 Prozent Mwst. und lδnderspezifischer Anforderungen)
Price in Norway: 222 000€

So, seems like the price difference explodes when it comes to expensive cars. The Audi A8 6,0 costs over twice as much in Norway as in Germany.

The gas costs about 1,2€/Liter here as well. The highest speedlimit is 100km/h, and if you drive over the limit the fines are astronomical.

For roads with a speedlimit of 60km/h or lower: 72€ for 5km over the limit, 129€ for 10km over the limit, 350€ for 15km over the limit, 505€ for 20km over the limit, and 780€ for 21-25km/h over the limit.

For roads with a speedlimit of 70km/h and higher, 72€ for 5km over the limit, 129€ for 10km over the limit, 312€ for up to 15km over the limit, 432€ for up to 20km over the limit, 590€ for up to 25km over the limit, 780€ for up to 30km over the limit, and 938€ for up to 35km over the limit. And if you drive faster you lose your license and such.If you drive at a red light, the fine is 625€.

Yeah, Norway is the living hell for car enthusiasts...

I think many Americans like to camp, fish, haul boats, trailers, and do other stuff with trucks because of their life style.

Australians have a different take on the truck like this Ford Pursuit.

A Ford F-250 costs only 59 685 US Dollar

A Dodge RAM SRT-10 isn't so expensive either with a pricetag of only 85 709 US Dollar.

It's when you add another row of seats, things start to get expensive:

A Chevrolet Tahoe 5,3 V8 LS costs 179 523 US Dollar!

A Porsche Cayenne Turbo costs 288 297 US Dollar

Volvo XC90 D5: 102 836 US Dollar

Volvo XC90 V8: 191 507 US Dollar
holy geez! You guys have some massive import tarriffs if the prices you posted are correct. A Tahoe costs 180,000 DOLLARS? Here on the american domestic market they go for about $45,000 US if I remember right.

Still another price comparison? No Problem!
Last Year! The VW Phaeton W12 is Made in Germany and cost in Germany 132.100US $! The Phaeton goes to the next large Port ( 600miles ). Then with the Ship into the USA. In the USA cost this Car not 132.100US $ + shipping costs! In the US cost this Car suddenly only 94.600US $. Why?

You want to have in Germany a exotic Car? Drive a Pickup! Porsche, Mercedes and BMW drive everyone!:-)

German Market

Fiat

Nissan

Mitsubishi

Ford

Land Rover

All the following cars except Fiat are Made In Thailand
And we have all of them here...but they don't sell very good in Thailand though the best selling Truck (which also out sell cars) are Isuzu and Toyota

I don't really get why Pick up don't sell well in Europe, i do understand that in the city parking space will be impossible to find but alot of the Europen population live in small town/rural area where parking space should be easliy found. another thing is the fuel milage, we get 12km/liter here that's pretty good i don't see why these pickup don't see in Europe

337,000USD

let talk something more normal

M3
7,000,000bath
189,000USD

BMW 330I
3,500,000Bath
94,000USD

Local made car ain't cheap either

Toyota camary 2.4L (full option)
1,560,000bath
42,100USD

Toyota Vios (Echo in USA)
680,000Bath
18,700USD

Oh yea we have one ENZO here for
85million bath

1. Fiat is "Death" in Germany! And when the Car make 24km/liter - NO Fiat Please! Fiat has no good reputation!

2. My Living Area in Germany is called "Ruhrgebiet". In this Area you can find many big Citys ( Cologne, Duesseldorf and so on ) but no parking lot. In the evening I must search approximately 10 minutes to find a parking lot for a Small City Car ( Suzuki Swift Cabrio )! A big Truck? No Thank you!

3. 12km/liter is O.K. but the most Pickup Trucks are not so economical!

4. With a big Diesel Engine the fuel consumption is O.K. but the Tax for this Cars is to high. And we have new pollution control law! Is the Air not clean enough you get a driving ban with this Type of Car.

5. The cost! For a Ford Ranger XLT you can have a Mercedes B 150 AND a Fiat Panda 4X4! Or a VW Passat and a Harley Davidson or a VW Golf GTI / BMW 116i and one, two or three big Vacation Trips.

6. No Speedlimit in Germany! You live in the last Country ( Germany ) without a speed limit and you want to drive a slow Pickup Truck? Why?

7. Germans believe a Pickup is a Craftsman / Handcrafter / Workman - Car! You can drive with this Type of Cars to the next construction site but not in the Theatre or Opera! You go with your working clothes to the Celebration / Party or into a Church?

8. Trucks are not really safe! Do not forget - we have no speed limit!

$45,185 fully loaded. It starts at a not-so-friendly $35,765. I always thought they were cheaper...

Re: Do Europeans drive trucks?

In the uk trucks arent as common as in the states but not to rare. Theres a Dodge ram 1500 near me but thats an import from the states as theres no market for them over here. In london city centre 4x4s you call them suvs are banned!

Insurance (i am a new 17 yr old driver) on my 1300cc triumph dolomite (yes tht is a car!) is £1100 (roughly $1700) a year!
