Here's a screenshot of how it looks on my computer. This is 1024x768 resolution on my laptop monitor which I believe is 15" (?).

While I don't mind it (don't like it either) on the main forum index, in the threads viewing posts it's just intrusive. Also the width is messed up, so I only end up seeing half the ad anyways, and I have to horizontally scroll over to see the whole ad. I understand that putting ads in a place where attention is drawn does just that - draws attention to them - this one just doesn't seem to work.

On a side note, I can't say I like this new way of attaching images either...seems overly complicated, having to upload in a separate window to my gallery, then browsing my way to the image in my gallery so I can get the link for the file to add to this post. Also, I really don't want to have a screenshot of side advertisements in my personal gallery hogging my space...to top it off it's crashed my IE when uploading twice already.

Re: Re: Re: New advertising

1024x768 is a compromise. 17" monitor and the only other resolution that looks 'square' ie. not all over the shop, is the top one where everything is too small. Is it not possible to have the ads in a highly visible spot that doesn't affect the site's core purpose - content?

Is this some kind of plot to make us upgrade our monitors to regain the couple of inches we've lost?

Mines ok I just keep it where I don't see the ad's unless I scroll to the right, but yesterday it over-took half of the screen.

Hot damn that one's bad

Don't know how you could stand to horizontal scroll just to read posts...you're stronger than I am!

I'm convinced that the computer's possessed by a gremlin from Sweden that insists on changing my resolution just to annoy me so now I pretend that it doesn't bother me, damn that Swedish gremlin..I will catch him one day..catch him I will..and than I will trap him in a Chicken Soup can and shake him..

See..the gremlin's been at it again, this is how it normally is, until I anger the gremlin by mocking his small shoes. Or not. Perhaps I just need to stop drinking.

it seems rediculous. I know you need the money to keep the site going, but that's a bit much. It's annoying as hell. Mine looks a lot like Cl0ak's, but I have to scroll about half as far. I refuse to change my screen settings to fit the flow of one site.

Edit: its like the first one he posted. sorry.

Sorry about messin you up there Diesal hehe, anyway being more serious, it seems to change like the 1st image I posted was when I was reading 1 topic but when I went to the 2nd page of that topic it looked like the 2nd screen shot I posted.

Than if I go to another forum it'll look like the 2nd screen shot but if I go to another topic it looks like the 1st again. I changed my resolution but that was just horrible to read that tiny text and it screws up other applications and websites also.

exactly. For a lot of us, changing our resolutions isn't an option. Doing so would cause a big annoyance. My screen seems to differ thread to thread for no reason. That's another annoyance. I say trash the side advertisements. There's even advertisements as announcments now.
