And also, for a point of clarification, drifing is not the fastest way around a track. So, it was in the '80's but cars have
why do people always say this? who claimed in this thread that is WAS the fastest way around a track?

nobody has ever claimed it to be a technique to be the fastest around a track.

it's an advanced driving technique, that exhibits a driver's extraordinary car control - nothing more, nothing less.

If you'd read the thread you'd notice nervestrings said that using a drifting technique the Evo could corner as well as the Porsches and such, which isn't true.

thats the saddest movie i've seen all year. i love evo's, they have been my dream car since i've been 16. in fact i would gladly light my 240 on fire and dance around it naked if some would give me an evo to do it. its a shame to see it go out like that.

some of those braking drifts where really nice. but yeah..i saw that coming before he drove on the dirt, because he was going to fast..and the point where the tires should have grabbed to exit...didnt..and it kept sliding...my eye caught that...and i was like..oh shit....is he gona make it?..then bam! car flipped....phew....i hope that never happens to me...but then again...i dont think it would..my car is to damn low to flip like that..if anything..my chassy will brake in half or get ripped open by the pavement.

Least it landed on its wheels...

So were the front tires too hot to get traction or did he just fuck up? Brake fade maybe?

i hope both of you watched 5th gears sti/evo8 comparison. evo8 wins against the sti. but for some reason they both say they would take the sti. i thnk it has to do with its rally inspired styling. the evo needs its halogens back.

Looks like he'd been having trouble with that turn earlier in the video too, coming in too fast and understeering. Seemed like he was a pretty good driver, although definitly being a jerk. Jumping in front of other cars at turn in and such is definitly not a smart thing to be doing on a track. On that last turn you can see he was going way too fast, smashed the brakes and understeered his way into the dirt.
