Re: Re: Re: Anyone want to make a kit for me?

Why don't you just build it yourself. It may not be that nice, you have to learn sometime. And if your not into modeling, I guess I can understand then.

From what I've seen/hear the normal price for a model(curbside or with engine if it comes with one...)build almost box stock is around 50-100 US.
However if you want something custom or something extra ordinary you'll pay extra and that extra is usaually hefty! If you want Pman shine on the paint, great detailing ora special paintjob this should set you around 200US...Just for the record custom HW with quality paintjobs with beatiful airbrushed reached price as 1000US(and most common for the topbuilders 200-300US)
So to come to the subject I believe you should go for a curbside Supra with the mods you said(no engine however)and don't pay above 100 for one. Also before choosing someone try a search on them and look at some pics of his projects...Top name or not look at what you'll propably get...
If however you want something extra a IS200 with a Supra engine and the mods listed will cost you something like 200US but if it was ofr example Hiroboy's model I would expect/suggest a much bigger pricetag! Most of the times you get what you pay for and quality is important...
Openning doors and trunk together with the engine will put the model of the rocket in a different level...

The botom line I would do it for free if you suplied the IS 200 kit,the SUpra kit and the shipping costs since I've done it before and I'll built the best I can!
However even I don't suggest this option since I think you should prefer someone to US or Canada to avoid the shipped model being destroyed while in the post...

My personal opinion on the subject...Hope I helped...

Wheel set: $10, scratch built: $160
> black tinted windows
No extra charge

No, extra charge
> headlights-clear lens with inside black chrome
No, extra charge

$20

$40
> stock looking engine (if applicable)
$200

> doors open/close
$100 ($50 each)
> trunk open/close
$50
> hood open/close
Included in the engine installation
> working headlights, tail lights, and fog lights
$340

Box stock is $180, so total comes to $1090. Not so expensive for more than 100 hours of work, I think.
I know some people would pay for it. How about you?

Very true.... I think making good hinges for the doors/trunk/hood could be one of the harder parts. Also the engine bay would require some good research to complete.

Honestly, I would do it (not really.. ), but beleive you're better off doing the work yourself and making it EXACTLY the way you want it to be! Don't be afraid of buying a few other kits to get started with the basic skills, before starting something as advance as this.

If you want to start on your own...
- It's really helpful to read the FAQ a few times..
- Post any questions you have if it can't be found through the FAQ/search.
- Also, introduce yourself to this 'neighbohood' of the forum...
- Most importantly, don't be afraid of messing up.. this way you can learn from your faults. And HAVE FUN!

well just as a quick example, i am about to start building a trd kitted altezza with a supra engine in it. it is for a customer who has spent over £25,000 ($40,000) just having the twin turbo supra lump fitted into his car (700bhp all chrome). its only having an opening hood.
The basic cost i gave him was £500, and that was for 20hrs work. anything more and it will be £25 ($40) per hour after that. he was perfectly happy with that quote and is prepared to pay up to £1000 in total. ($1600).

Have you got that kind of money, or would you rather build it yourself?

i suggest building it yourself, the kit is realy basic so have a go.

Why not just pick a member whose work you like and get a quote from them?

Don't forget that if you want working head and tail lights you will also need to have a base where you can house the electronics and batteries/switch for the on/off. This is also a bit more complecated. May be you should try limiting your options a little if you are on a budget.

SOme other common questions are do you want opening doors to function, or just be positioned open, do you want suede or real leather interior? Do you want a light up gauges and stereo backlight? If you are going to be wiring the headlights why not also do the footwhel lights, gauge cluster lights, stereo console light, overhead lights, etc...its pretty much the same wiring just more bulbs...

Overall, for a hiroboy/FONTW/kunta qulaity replicas you will need to pay a premium and for all the extra features you want, you are looking at a sizeable amount.

Don't forget that a number of skills are required here, electronics, engineering, scratchbuilding, culpting, etc. Its very difficult to engineer and exceute a 4 door sedan with opening doors and to try to massage an engine that does not belong in the engien bay and to build around the engine other infastructure like firewall, various boosters and wires.

just my

If money isn't a problem, I'll do it for about $2000. That's $20 an hour for 100 hours.
