this is an old thread, but I'd thought I'd respond also. Get the 6. I've driven both the 4 and the 6 in an 2004 tacoma. The 6 cylinder is much better

I own two rental properties and I need a truck I can plow with. I realize probably I should go with the v6 but there is a 99 reg cab Tacoma 2.7 auto 4x4 with 75k for sale here in town for $8500. It is in perfect condition with a clean car fax.
Do you guys think this truck will be able to handle plowing? Thanks Jim

4cyl is a much better built engine that is much easier to maintain in the long run.
otherwise the 6 has more power obviously. |

I have a 97 Taco 2.4L and it has no balls at all. I can't even get out of my own way half the time.
