it's not a "waste" of a 240. i don't view it as very nice at all either, but that's simply because i'm a drift/track racing fan and don't like drag racing at all. i'm guessing Klohiq is in that same boat. to each his own, right?
Dart Izumi Jr. used to drive a 1JZ powered S14 in the D1, which is the exact same size. it can be done, but it'll obviousley cost you a good bucket load of money.

Maybe waste wasn't the best word, but when I look at that car I imagine someday it will be tossed aside and no one will want it because of the extensive modification. The owner will most likely move on and not care about the rarity and great handling potential of the car. Even track enthusiasts do this, they take any car that is capable and modify the hell of it then find something better (and usually even more rare) and dispose of it.
A 240 doesn't deserve that fate, but I guess that's not for me to decide.

ok, i get you now. i know what you mean... seeing 240's not in "correct" use is kinda painful.
i seen an 89-90 red 240 in the junkyard.. stick. no tires, no windshield, front end screwed, rear end screwed, doors locked. i was about to cry ![]() hey, it happens. that car is still awesome, who cares if it's just for drag. you can say the same thing about that jap guy's 7 sec hks drag 240.

Mad props fro proper usage of oy... I dont see a point to a 2JZ swap unless you have bajillions to pay for it, and it probably will not be streetable, due to the extensive modifications that will be needed to the body and frame to make it fit. Plan on this being a strictly drag car. No way it can carve corners as well as a 4-cyl. With that said;I know I oft say get a Honda, but in this case, I honestly feel that it can be done for MUCH cheaper if you wanna drag race. *Summons Honda knowledge powers* Get a Civic, or CRX, get a B20, port-polish, new pistons, valve springs, con-rods, valves, close the deck, turbo it, and engine managment. Strip the bastard out, get a spool, and you should be able to run 10s. I donno if JG engine dynamics is still around, but theres lotsa good engine builders out there.

i wasn't saying anything about a 10sec car... honda's are deadly fast if you mod them. but you were comparing a honda to a supra/rb26..... there is no comparison.
only supra's can run 8's (out of normal street cars, that is) and still be somewhat legal and streetable.

http://www.mr2ownersclub.com/quartermile/ Best on there is a 10.2 though...which is still pretty impressive. I'm pretty sure some domestics can do a fast quarter while still being able to drive on the street too.

I love full drag 2JZs (anyone seen the Bullish Solaras) no engine in the world sounds cooler besides the F1s
anyhoo i really dont see any reason to do this OS Giken makes a $$$ 3.0 RB $$$ so why bother. i bet the 2JZ is quite a bit heavier too. |

and this law has applyed to pretty much all manufacturers. notice how ALL the flagship jap models ONLY have 280 hp. 276 really. the NSX-R for example, with a 3.2, which flys, is only 280? uhhh. no. they do it for all cars.. so its possible that the 2jz has more than 280 as well. which i believe it does.

i dun think u understand what it takes to make an 8 second car. and to make it streetable. pshhhhhawww!!! 5.0 stangs, LS and LT1's, GTR's can all do 8's if tuned properly, and be SOMEWHAT streetable. take for example, the car on www.exvitermini.com look at all the work they had to do to make a 8 second Drag GTR33. the lowest i ever heard of a supra on the street is 9.5's and believe me, with that much power under the hood, and so much wheelspin, to get into the 8's from a 9.5 isnt just raw power, its about another 5 g's of work. throught the whole car , not just the engine.
