The wagon looks like it has a longer wheelbase.
Howdy, Johnner, and welcome. I think you'll get lots of fun miles out of this car. Drive it 'til it drops. Flunky PS-If you go camping and get in some hairy places, take photos and post 'em here. I think most of us are too chicken to go 4-wheelin' in our cars. |

thanks again for all of the replys -- its good know this board is active :-)
i saw a few people talk about main relay going bad? what is it, where is it, how much is it and how hard is it to replace? Any signs of a bad one? yeah it is taller and longer then your normal civic. it also seems to have a really cool suspension front and back -- looks like a "race car?" for lack of a better word thanks again |

It's located just above the lever that pops your hood... It's a bit difficult to get at, because it's crammed in there pretty far, but certainly not impossible. Mine went out on me, and I ended up having to pay over $300 in shop charges for it. That was [shortly] before I decided never to take my car to a shop again unless absolutely necessary. The part itself thought is really cheap, probably $25 or so (don't quote me on that), so if you can diagnose the problem and replace it yourself, you'll save a ton of money.

ci5ic - great information!!! would it cause a car to stall? mine stalled twice on me (in a row) after that it started right up and ran great?
do the new ones last longer? |

wouldnt affect stall i dont think, the new ones are made a different way as this was a common problem in the 88-91's.

Nice little beast
Be careful of the tranny, they are fragile compared to the usual 4G boxes. A friend bolted a ZC to one (with a little bit of a modification) and killed the box in 2 weeks (hint: AWD does not mean you should treat the car like a WRX - which still kill their own boxes on a hard launch). So don't go trying to smoke up all 4 (they won't really based on the way transfer is handled) unless you have a spare box/transfer case handy. Rust??? I've yet to see a rusty 4G Then again - no-one puts salt on our roads either

*** Up Date ***
my repair shop just got my car up on the lift to give it a good once over before I start to drive it. I wanted to see how "quick" the RT4WD system would detect wheel spin up front - so I spun the front wheel the rear wheels started to turn after only moving it about an inch if that much! I was pretty impressed... after doing some reading on line they made it sound as if the RT4WD system was slow :-) Also I was able to look at the driveshaft in better light and height - and its about as big (think) as from a full size truck. I was pretty impressed with my little Honda. I'll post pictures soon I know.... but in case any one was wounding -- :-) |

It's not so much the tailshaft that's the issue as the transfer case. Still, good to hear it's all looking good
