Re: Worst drifting experiences...

Ahhh my worst experience? Lets see... I was leaving my neighborhood and making a left onto a 3 lane road that at this time of the day was very empty. There was an apartment complex on the right side of the road I was going to turn onto. So, I reved it hard approaching the intersection. About halfway through, I noticed that not only had the apartment complex been running its sprinklers, but one of the heads was obviously broken, and had soaked the intersection. Lets just say I did some free landscaping, when I lost all traction and ended up in outside of someone's apartment. So, I was a nice guy, and left a couple "marks" in their front yard as I sped away.

Re: Worst drifting experiences...

worst experience? well I was showing a friend how to drift his dad's old RWD volvo. Then we got into a empty parking lot. He really began to enjoy drifting, but he wasnt controling at all, but who cares, there is nothing to hit... At least in a bidimentional plan... But then there was an Audi TT that was near us, and he wanted to impress the driver, so he got at 50 mph, started to drift, but even with opposite locking, the car was still sideway, so he braked, and steered even more, what made the car go immediatly in the other direction. And because of all the body-roll, it made the car flip over! ahahah! Fortunatly, volvo have really solids cages, so we were not ingured.

His dad was so sad, he was polishing piece of carburator he bough in a salvage yard to replace it in the engine. Fortunatly, he bough an other one that is exactly the same and he enjoy reparing it with the pieces of the one that flipped over.

I used to have a lot of fun when I had my 92 Miata. With it's super-short wheelbase, I'd done a lot of accidental 180's, especially in the rain.

The worst in that car though, was done by my brother. At the time we shared an apartment together, and the night after I installed a cold air intake on it he came home from a night on the town (aka drunk) and decided to take it out for a test drive. He was used to driving his fwd Neon, and according to him while going around a turn in our neighborhood he hit the gas to kick out the rear end, and it took him by suprise. He said it fish-tailed back and forth about 3 or 4 times before slamming him head-on into a tree. In the end, it cost his insurance company over 5 grand, and it cost him a car for over a month, cause I drove his while mine was in the shop.

One of my favorite quotes still has to be what he said to me after he got back home: "If it makes you feel any better, I think I fucked up my thumb."

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I was asleep when he decided to take my car out.

Hmmm? drifting and no seatbelt/multi-point harness? Sounds like a good combo to me.
