A very specialised race car. certianly not a muscle car.
Infact Iv seen everything from a Mazda 323 to a Ferrari 308, turned into a funny car, and they are certianly not Muscle cars.

Heres a Question how to you define a Muscle car?
And what about cars like the GTR Skyline? or a WRX STi and EVO VII

A muscle car is a car that doesnt need aerodynamics, A muscle car doesnt have to be light, a muscle car will shake your brains loose because of the giant cam, A muscle car will lift the front end off the ground. I dont classifie any of those cars that you said a muscle car!

wut if.........
japanese cars had the same amount of displacement a domestic muscle car had.......
the amount of horsepower and torque these cars would generate would really kick domestic muscle car ass...
but... i might be wrong but i doubt it.... SO.... american cars would just DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE

I think it's pretty terrible that muscle cars have to rely on a V8 and a large displacement to achieve the same performance as a tuned 6 cylinder engine (European or Japanese). [sarcasm] Big woop, I'm impressed. [/sarcasm] I agree with Pharty totally. America is just caught up in the bigger is better mentality.

Sure a foreign car with the same hp and torque would kick a domestic cars ass just because it is lighter, but it would cost 3 times as much to get the same hp as a domestic v8. Its pure physics, a finely tuned v6 vs. a finely tuned v8, size does matter because you got two more cylinders on the v8 side, so the v8 domestic would win.

Could you explain this? Why would it cost three times more? Are you comparing the domestic v8 to a foreign i6, v6, or v8?

I dont think if japense built V8's that they would have the same power per liter as teeir 4 and 6's do. It will be hard to get them to rev as high as the 4 and 6's do. THats the only reason they make as much power as they do. I think the engine would be close to the same with no real advantage to either side.

The reason (bluevett) that the imports cost more (not three times) is because we are in AMERICA. if you were in Europe or Japan they would cost little more then a domestic car here in the states. Us Americans have to pay for import taxs on every thing for cars from Toyota to Audi. However with Ford, Chevy, and other domestic cars the parts are made in the states or mexico which equals little to none import tax which cuts the cost down. So here in the states yes an inport would cost more. but if you were in lets say Japan just think of how much a nice mustle car would cost you.

But aren't some "import" cars built in the US?!? I think the Honda Accord is one. I know for sure that the BMW X5 and Z3 is built in the US.

Not any more, Pretty much every honda and Toyota model sold in the states is made there. And cars like the BMW X5 and Z3 are ONLY made in the states, and then exported to Europe.

Thats the thing though, the exact same import car sold in the states is much less powerfull then the exact same one if it's the japanese model. For exaple, The american version of the 93-97 Toyota Celica had something like 160-180 HP, the exact same model make and everything in Japan had about 200-210 HP. If you take a Japanese car thats made in america and put it on a track with the exact same one except from japan, with the exact same drivers, the Japanese one will always win simply because when the cars are brought to the states they are severly neutered.

If you want to talk about big hp then lets talk about funny cars, their pushing around 6-7000 hp "you know the cars that can go from 0-280 in about 4 seconds." and i hate to tell you but there american made!
Hey mate, you need to get out more and learn about imports because you are pretty closed minded with V8's....

There are alot of tuned Skylines that can do 0-300k in 13's bracket.
9.2 1/4 and 13.7s 0-300 kmh.
As for rare, in japan there are whole clubs with LOTS of 9s road cars. They do their times on road tires...

Skylines and Supra's are futuristic muscle..
