Don't even worry about leaving the timer on and someone will drive the car away. Just turn the steering all the way to the left or right and lock it, no one can drive the car far.

It IS illegal to have a remote start system on a manual car.........Perfectly safe on a slushie! They wire to the hand brake so the remote will not work if the hand brake is not on and the car isn't in park.
There are ways to wire up your turbo timers so your alarm will work with it, I.E killing the ign if the door is opened and setting the alarm off; setting the ign kills after the timer has finished; having to disarm the alarm to get in and pressing the brake first or the ign kills switch on etc....Shit man, You can do anything with relays! :bandit:

This is utterly bizarre! Everybody knows about turbo timers, so how is it (if leaving a car running is illegal) that no-one (ie Police) is saying anything about it? Think about it in terms of our friends in blue, and their revenue-raising efforts. How easy would it be to rock over to any gathering of performance cars, (say...the carpark at Big Boys Toys???) and just leave dirty great tickets on all the turbo-timed cars as soon as the owners are out of sight.
![]() Dumb bloody law, that needs to go to the website (can't for the life of me remember the url) with all the stupid laws from various countries - like you can only shit in the street on sundays, and stuff btw, I didn't mean to shoot no messengers my mind was just boggling with the stupidity of it!

There is 1 danger to turbo timers that has caught me out a few times and that is you park say out the front of a shop run in get what you want get back in your car and then drive off not realising the timer is still counting down and then the motor stops scares the hell out of me i think my car has broken down but then remember its just the timer i left on:alien: :alien:

Another problem with timers is in an major accident with fuel leaking,,,, almost any bystander can usually turn the engine off, but now the timer cuts in. I know it not a real problem with Nissans as our supply systems are pretty safe,,,but other makes have their tanks at the back of the boot.

i have a HKS turbo timer and someone hops in and puts the handbrake down to go, then it will switch the car off - im sure most systems would have something like this as a small preventitive measure - also my imobilisers are set up to kick in when the engine stops - which suits me cus im lazy

It depends on how hard u drive it up to the moment you stop...
If u drive it pretty soft then wait maybe until u have your seatbelt off club lock on, wallet out of the glove box then turn it off... Otherwise wait 1-2 mins max... thats what i do any way...

I have a Boomerang alarm on my car, which has the turbo timer built into it. It also remote starts the car (a manual), altough it will only let you remote start the car if you exit it, lock it, then come back and start it. If you unlock it again (to get something out for example) it will not allow you to remote start.
As far a remote starting it in gear, the car is always left with the turbo timer on, so it is out of gear anyway. It is illegal to leave your car unattended and runinng, cause for example, you have a dog in your car (not in my bloody car) and it knock's it into gear. Hypothetical, but what can you do. Jeff.
