Re: Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII WRC – full-open (Tamiya)

Superb work, masterpiece expected !!
I'm just curious to see how you will integrate the magnets
this will be cool once built to be able to open and close the doors.

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII WRC – full-open (Tamiya)

Phil, thanks for your kind words!

Magnets are easy-peasy – i'll make a photo of magnet installed in the hood and trunk lid tomorrow. With doors it's a different story and i will finish them on Tuesday.

Overall i'm very pleased with double build with all this full-open stuff I've done. It was a real challenge for me and emotions which I get with this project are better than sex :-)

By the way question to community, are the holes in upper part of the rear windows are though the windows glass or they simply installed over the it?

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII WRC – full-open (Tamiya)

According to me and the pics I have holes are not really opened "though window" but they don't seem fake neither, it's like there was a kind of filter or mesh (??) behind holes...
Can't put my hands on a close-up pic...
but I can't think they really are fully opened simply due to eventual rain during the rally or also dust on gravel event...

Another day, another use-case for magnets and guitar string in scale car modelling:

Added magnets to the door panels and now we can see how the doors look closed:

Here is the body painted in base coat by Sikkens and decals applied. The hood is painted too but I had to do some local repainting after decal work.
