the engine will go in like cake... especially the 25, the 26 fit in like a glove.. in just the afternoon, the lengthy part was the wiring... took us.. mainly him (S13GTR)... 3 days for that...

Wiring took alot of trial & error then even more time to solder up all the connections. The actual "motor swap" took no time at all, like drivin said, you can change it in an afternoon

Yes i know to swap it out will be no big issue .. main probblem is wiring it up. I already pulled out my motor and tranny a few days ago within an hour. Now finding a diagram or step by step on how to wire it in is another thing.

Wiring an 89-90 is different than a 91-94 is different than a 95-98. Its gonna be a bit hard to cover all three variables but I guess thats why its 15 pages.

Isn't it a bit harder than just the wiring? Don't you have to do a bit of modifying to make everything fit and hold.
I would image that the-

K Member would need to be modded in order to position the engine correctly, have proper mount location, and reinforced to deal with the added weight and power.

Front End mods, to clear the radiator.

Firewall "adjustments", to allow the engine to have clearance for itself as well as steering and brake components.

Various mods for the tranny to have proper fittment and shifter location then getting a new driveshaft.

Various plumbing problems.

Also linkage to the throttle would be a prob wouldn't it?

I could be wrong, but I can't imagine an Rb -> 240 swap being a "Drop In" I know it can be done but from what I know, its not an easy task to both install and wire the engine.

If it is, then great!

K member bolts right in

Use KA radiator, no problem at all, inlet & outlet even line up

Only issues I had were with the teering and an angle grinder took care of that real quick

New drive shaft ($400) bolts right in

Only plumbing problem was A/C, no A/C no problems

Made a new bracet to extend the the origional bracket, no more problem

Not a real problem at all.

Alot easier than everyone thinks.

Cool, sound really fun actually. I would have expected it to be WAY MORE labor intensive.

Is it the RB26 that is the killer install?

I havent done one, but from what I understand the only issue that does not come up with the RB25DET is the twin turbo setup and the front mount intercooler(running the piping). You would want to use the RB25DET RWD trans also as opposed to the RB26DETT AWD trans. I cant see that it would be too much extra work.

The TT would seem to be the biggest prob because other than that the rb25 and 26 are identical as far as size is concered.
The clearance between the turbo and fender looks really tight, is there any rubbing under accel or cornering?

Intercooler piping is no big deal as long as you have a cutting tool and a pipe bender.

I would honestly think that the AWD setup would be impossible with the 240. The RB25 tranny is the only option.

The KA radiator can handle the RB? SR radiators have a hard time handling SRs in the heat.

Ive gotta do one of these swaps to find out for myself

2 electric fans fixes the problem....

I hear that the AWD setup is possible with a bit of work, I am not sure what but I would LOVE to try it!!
