I think the SLP is better than the Thrasher. I was going to get the Thrasher b/c it would look good under the hood, but when I read how much extra HP it would provide it was the same as the SLP. So I looked at the prices on both. The SLP is cheaper than the Thrasher. Overall Im going to say the SLP they have a good name and I never heard of Thrasher before. I noticed a little bit of power gain when I installed mine. Took no more than 30min. to do.

You said that you used the SLP, but did you use the original air cleaner that you recieved with it? Or did you replace it with a K&N. Also, I was wondering if anyone had changed their exhaust tips to chrome or stainless steel. If they have, I wanted to ask if they stuck out far enough to see, because the stock ones are fairly long before they hit the real exhaust pipe.
Thanks |

bonnie exhaust
h pipes and x pipes are for a rear wheel drive. like a mustang for example. they come with h pipes. I don't know what year your bonneville is but my '88 doesnt even have duals so if it is like mine and you want to run duals then I would either get a Y pipe or get a flowmaster delta flow(wont sound crappy!) and split it into 2 at the back. would sound way cool.

An H-pipe does tend to be louder than an X-pipe. The X quiets the system down while giving a completely different sound. Like oldschool said. you wont find these on newer cars because they use y-pipes with a single pipe going to the muffler.
Taking the CAT off will have no effect on either sound or performance. Asking what type of muffler is the best sounding is like me asking what year Bonneville is the best. You will get different suggestions from different people. |

I took my CAT off and it made it a little louder and gave it a litttle more performance. Besides mine was cloged up anyway. If you have your stock y-pipe removed and put a custom or scavenger series y on from flowmaster, that will increase the sound as well. U-bend is the only thing i have found that didn't increase noise or horsepower when removed.

Scott, you said your CAT was clogged, thats the reason why you saw a performance increase and in sound too. It wasnt the CAT itself, just the fact that it was clogged.

It make sence 70chevelle84, a CAT restricts exhaust flow 15%. I'm not going to say it was nessesarily clogged, i just felt that the CAT was a restriction and had it removed. When i did, i noticed an increas in noise and performance. I bet 80% of people would agree that a CAT is restricting performance.

Not to take sides, but I agree.
