Beautiful, you must be able to put in a tremendous amount of detail into this kit being 1:12 and all.

Thanks for the info , man !
Only think I do think is a bit about are the stickers...Are they really like the "toy" stickers, nice , sticky and fat? Well, You could always print them on decals, but hey, up to you . Also, what are YOU going to do with it ? Can we look forward to see a nice superdetailed Skyline? OLivier

Hey all, well today was another day, this model kit is awesome, like besides the amount of detail is phenomonal, for a fujimi kit =D.
Today was much more body work, I sanded from 400 grit, to 800 to well eventually to 1200 grit to get the body mold lines out and cleaning up some fitting parts and such. The hood had a minor fitting problem, but it seems to be the base of the mount on where the wipers go, so i took a hobby knife and scrapped it lightly to clean out some plastics and then it fit... but i think a little more work on it would make it much better. I started working from 3 to 8 today California time =D, I couldn't paint today, even tho I picked up my black primer and my car paint (KH2 Charcoal Pearl), man this paint has seven different type of paints in there... it so crazy, same as my midnight purple which was LP2, that one had eight different paint combos. So I sanded thoroughly once again the front half of the car; the front fenders, bumper, side skirts, also the hood, I have to prep the body really well and in order for me to fit the kit with the nismo supplied body kits and wing, I have to sand, fit, fill, and re fit, before I can glue it on. And since I couldn't paint, because I didn't have the right gun today, i had to hold off on the painting, because the chassis, and the engine bay also must be the body color, so I was held dead stick there, then I worked on misc stuff, e.i. the back suspension system. Ok, freelunch, you asked for it, Rims and Tires from this kit, it looks like a real rim, and the tires fit like a real tire. Close up picture of the back suspension, not painted yet, and the outside disc break drum is seperate, so I can paint it seperate than from the rest of the piece Here is the whole unit. Why did I not paint the parts before putting together? Because in the referance magazine, the back unit is all black, or in my case, Im going to be using black metalizer, and then using black for the tubing, and aluminum metalizer for the center piece, think it is the back brake controller? So i first fit everything, then paint. ![]() Sanding... more sanding... three hours !!!! The circles are my finger prints =D As you can see, the fitting is still off.... im working on it Ok in this picture, it is without the hood, and you can see the enormous engine bay, here all the creative stuff is gonna happen. =D, u can see the bridge? where I sanded but you can still see the two nipples on the plastic? That is where the major fitting problem is for the hood, still need more work on that to level the hood. So, I just need to shave the bridge a little bit more. So that is the photographic journal for that section... Bigfrit, I promise you Im gonna do many things to this car... and YES you can look forward to see a nice superdetail Skyline GTR... >>> but you will have to give me a few weeks ok =D So bare with me |

Hey guys, well im glad it summer because we all got more time to hobby. I am pleased to see peoples interest in this kit, its a great one to build. Makes your mind stretch a little bit. Recent things, since yesterday was that I started fitting certain things to start putting in the modifications for the Nismo Body kits. And I painted the interior to start off of.
rsbousquet, here is a inch by inch comparison of the rims, I blieve they are about 1 and 1/4 of an inch... but yes, they sure look like real rims tho, the size is quite nice. fits the tires well and the colors are good, I think I will leave them be as like that. Interior is painted Gunship grey from Tamiya, the reference pictures call for a darker shade of gray, in the Tamiya model, they call for German Grey, but that is too light for the car iself, the R32, I can't seem to find leather GTR's? I don't believe there were such things, but when I took a road trip to Motorex, the place where they import GTRs, I sat in three R32s, and they are all dark cloth interiors, so for my own eyes, and reference pictures, I will have to argue with Fujimi, and not leave it Black, because there were never black seats in GTR, only grey cloth, and dark blue cloth. The gunship grey fit this profile much more. If you can see right, at the door edge it says ( SKYLINE ), that will be painted in silver, the whole floor bar will be painted silver. Door fittings, they are find, but you need to bind the chassis with the frame/body of the car from the bottom to seal the gap between the body and the chassis when you open the door, look at the picture above, there is no gap between the interior and the frame, i taped the bottom together to fit the parts to see if they are compatable, or if I had to sand more to get the gaps away. Front bumper, I just drilled and cut away the openings to accomodate the GTR "aerodynamic" hole designs, I will fit the parts into when ready, still need some sanding on the front the even out some wedges. Here, the radiator is being fitted with the fan, it should be right when I drop the RB26 into the bay. Note that I put the ( Nissan 24 Valve ) sticker on the engine cover... looks neat, and i can read it =D ![]() This picture is a before and after deal, the one on the left is the stock bottom Q' Panel side skirt, and the right is the Nismo spec one. I am in the process of sanding and putting the sides on, hard to kit actually. So that is the progress as of now, everyone take care and thanks for dropping by, I hope to do some more as the weekend comes along. |

I love the weekends, so i got to work on the base of the model... man i was sweating like hell juss building it. So i got the following done...
- Bottom Chassis - Steerable Column and Wheel works - Finished basic engine bay build. I painted everything execept the Interior (as of now) mostly of Metalizors. Metalizors work well because they are better than just metallic paints... they fit better, and you can buff to certain shines or if you want to have a ware and tare effect. Let me let the pictures walk, and I explain... I know this is the best part of the progress for you guys. So this is the engine bay assembly... I did most of what the instructions called for, execpt I didn't use their coloar call outs, but my own. Rightnow some parts are still playable, like I can clean up, but i don't want to make it too clean, because a real car is never clean, so i decided to use the metalizors to give that used effect. The bay is sprayed with KH2 paint (Charcoal Pearl) from nissan... you can buy in half a pint from your nearest auto body shop Chassis... is also painted in the body color KH2, everything is attached and fully cleaned out. no fitting problems here... Plenty of room here to do some detailing, like the bolts, rust, joint wieldings... its a treasure chest here too! You can see here I that did some effects here to make the transmission a little more real, I used what people call wash, to give the wash, used look, its basically all the different metalizors and thinner that people save up (well we can really throw this stuff in the drain you know ) so they save it all in a used can or whatver, like waste... and then dip a paint brush and then let it run on some metalizor parts, to make it more real and give it depth Back suspension and parts were all black metalized and then some aluminum for the brake controller in the back. Gas tank is also black metalizer and then rubbed with a rag to give it a ware and tare effect. Front view of the engine bay, inbetween of the front mount intercooler, and the radiator, is the piece that is suposed to replicate the hood latch. ![]() Back view of the engine, you can see the radiator fan in there... its spins too =D well that is if you twirl something to make it move =D So far, I am very happy with the planning, to finish the model and then detail is a great plan because you can concentrate on the most important things, and then the detail later can make the model even better. |

thanks guys, comments are always nice, but uhh... Ryan, haha im not gonna rush this one, the basic build will be finished within the next two weeks. However, all the other builds like the brake lines and hoses must be fit right. So its gonna take a long time to build.
My questions for you guys are... 1)How do i make the mesh for the speakers? 2)Anyone seen any 1/12 scale seat belts? Or do I have to scratch build them? 3)How do i flock? is it hard to do? 4)To manipulate burns and wielding marks, what is the best way to do it? 5)Anyone ever done pedels before hand? If you had do you have any cross referance picture of the pedels from nismo? Last question, what would you like to see done to this car... practically that is =D thanks guys, Peter Last edited by skylinehks; 06-23-2003 at 01:53 PM. |

If you go there, you'll find an excellent tutorial about flocking. Plus if you go to the build up of the R34 GT-R, you'll see a very brief yet good way of making speaker mesh. |
