You are not wrong. I wasn't saying I was trying to set the timing. I have to take it to a local shop that has a real scanner. I was just stating that I don't see any codes.

have the timing set. also idle droping is usually cankcase vent system/PCV. then the IAC and the body it sets in maybe dirty.

with no codes the timing must be close to correct. with a bad distributor or gear the miss fires are quite normal. hopefully the new distributor will correct the wear issue..with high miles on the distributor I would guess it would.
