I really hate these kind of polls but I did answer and I chose the obvious 5th gen cause like most people here I'm biased, the 5th seems to be a little bit more refined in the inside quality due to the years of experience that Nissan has had to work out the bugs and some of the details.

not to mention the fact that they're no longer on the verge of bankruptcy

Same here as well. The 3rd gen is the true 4DSC, IMO. Independent rear suspension, something the 4th and 5th gens lack!!

it's only cuz nissan tries to use the skyline inspired multi-link rear beam. i like an independent better myself. that's the one thing i liked about my friends 99 si civic over my old 96 200sx Se-R.

The Skyline inspired multi-link IRS is in the new Altima and 6th gen Maxima, not the 4th and 5th gens.

Re: Favorite gen Maxima

5th gen. Reason? See sig.
Although a 4th gen with a VQ35 swap would be pure sex.

IMO it's a wash as far as looks go between the 4th and 5th gen, they both have their merits. 5.5 gens rock because of the mountains of torque compared to the earlier, smaller displ. VQ's. And the heated steering wheel is absolutely AWESOME.

I agree with street racer, a 4th gen with a 3.5 AND an HLSD would be sweet.

Re: Favorite gen Maxima

5th all the way. I loved my 4th and all the available mods, but my 03 has so much more power and more and more upgrades are coming out now.

Re: Favorite gen Maxima

^ the only thing i hate about the 3.5 is the MAFS issues, if it weren't for that it'd be my favorite gen, having owned a 3rd 4th 5th and 5.5 gen, i've still gotta go with the 4th gen as the best. that car was light wieght, torquey and a sleeper. not to mention i think it had the best overall look to it of any maxima.
