One factor that really affects gas mileage is weight . A smaller vehicle has been mentioned but if you have to go with what you have , make sure you empty the vehicle of any weight you don't need . Many people use their trunk as a storage unit and all that extra weight pulls your MPG down . Make sure your tires are properly inflated and a proper wheel alignment not only helps the MPG but also lessens tire wear .All of the suggestions everyone has mentioned will be beneficial . No jack rabbit stars as that consumes more fuel and you end up getting to your destination no quicker usually . Good luck !

I just heard an interesting way UPS reduces fuel costs. They make sure the routes for their drivers consist of NO left turns. It saves idling time, therefore gas.
