Pretty much everything else I know about the car is well documented. Maybe you can learn some new stuff though.

i was lookig at that picture of that plaque, and i can't help noticing how much writing its got on it, if you look closely it as about 6 lines of writing, and all of the other chassis # plaques i've seen haven't had that much wrighting on them, maybe there is something in that ,or possibly mclaren removed the plaque in case people like us find out waht car it is

see: lets compare this pic to the turner motorsport plaque:

don't look the same do they?

NOTE: look at on the turner motorsport car there is a line abouve and below where the chassis number is written, clearly there are no lines on the cars plaque that is on park lane.

I see the lines rather clearly on the Park Lane car's plaque...

The formatting seems to be exactly the same from my perspective. You can let us know for sure in a few weeks though...

We don't know if the handbrake is off or not, and most probably, it is engaged. They have the type of handbrake where the handle pushes back down after it is pulled up. Quite a few sports cars have this. You have to lift the handbrake handle up until it engages, then lower it, in order to release the handbrake. It is never left in the "up" position.

Besides being normal in a lot of cars, it is necessary in the McLaren because you need to slide over it in order to get in or out. The gearshift lever is in the way if you try to use the other side.

yeah, it's a bit weird. to engage, you lift up, and then once the handbrake is engaged, you can lower the handle back out of the way. it feels very loose on the way back down.

to disengage, you lift the handle again until it catches. the lever feels very loose on the way up this time, at least until it catches. now you lower it, releasing the handbrake.

the lotus esprit has the same type of handbrake. i know a few other cars do too.

Engine Plaque

Peloton, and others, here is the plaque located on the right rear shock mount. It contains engine information. Sorry for the poor quality.

It reads:

ENGINE SETTINGS

Firing Order
Tappet Clearances
Ignition Timing
Spark Plug Type
Spark Plug Gap
Idle Speed (Neutral)
Idle Mixture

And the second from bottom sentance says something about all engine specs taken at normal operating temperature. The bottom sentance is the minimum octane rating (98 RON Unleaded)

And while the car is here for some service work I decided to take a picture of the front suspension through the vacant headlight opening.

There's no significance to this other than it was there and I could photograph it.
