Thanks for looking out! I'll make sure to tell my friend! He was thinking of getting one that looked just like an Iwata HP-B.

Re: Tamiya or Aztek Airbrush's

Hummm, replica must be pretty poor because an HP-B at 50$ is quite a deal ! Stay away from it exept if you can see it live so you can make your mind on the quality of it. But at that price, I have doubt.

I noticed some mention of clogging problems with Testors Acryl. I have been told that you need a filter to keep small dried paint particles and impurities from clogging your airbrush. Unlike lacquer and enamel paints, acrylic thinner won't disolved dried paint as it flows past it.

Badger makes a mesh filter that slips over the siphon tube and rests on the bottom of the paint bottle.

Re: Tamiya or Aztek Airbrush's

Another good way is to keep away from Testor Acrylics !!! There's so much color these days in a variety of paint and form that I can't see why bother with the crappy things. BUT, the little filter is a good thing to have for every kind of shooting... not absolutely necessary but a nice to have kind of thing... I don't have one though so I can't comment on their real addition to the process, I don't feel like I need to have one since I spray Tamiya Acrylics just a few time a year and never have problems with the paint. The only problems I had was with a "not well done" cleaning. So shame on me. It never happenned again.

Re: Re: Tamiya or Aztek Airbrush's

Well i got my Paasche's guys. 3 of them one of my friend already bought and 2 another friend of mine bought. So im only keeping one. It is a Paasche VL. Pretty cool, doesn't spray tooo thin so i think im keeping this one for my models. But one of my friends wants to trade me an Iwata HP-A that was only used once by his uncle for this VL. Im still thinking about it I told him that i first need to see how it is in shape, but i trust him. Should i trade? here are pictures of my Iwata Eclipse HP-BCS with the VL Color Cup and my VL along with the croud fo Paasche's.

Re: Tamiya or Aztek Airbrush's

I have a VL, and I dunno if it's the age or what, but a lot of color flows back into the body when you paint, so you basically have to disassemble it when you want to change colors.

I'll be picking up an Iwata Revolution ASAP.

I just received my Iwata Revolution yesterday. Haven`t had a chance to use it yet, but soon will. I need to learn how to use the dual action, never tried before.

Re: Tamiya or Aztek Airbrush's

Dual action isn't hard at all: The more you press down, the more air you get. The more you pull back, the more paint you get. I have found that the Iwata I messed with in the store had less up-down travel, but more front-back travel than the VL.

I've found that I tend to just use it full-on in both directions, unless I was doing something tricky like shading or something. I still wouldn't buy an expensive airbrush without it, just because I would like to have it, but you probably don't NEED it. I just because using a single-action Aztek A320, and so far it's working OK.

The higher-end Testos Aztek models have a dual-action over-ride, where you can dial in how much paint you want, and it can't go over that amount.

Humm, nice feature ... but doesn't all Dual Action are that way too... you can always control the flow by blocking the needle (with the traveling screw) where you want it to stop !?? This way, the flow is control... well I tought all D-A were that way aren't they ??
I'm confuse...
Maybe they just invented a new word (Dual Action Over-ride) but it's already existing on all the D-A I have (even the low buck).

Re: Tamiya or Aztek Airbrush's

Well, I'm sorry to bring up this old thread, but I just wanted to share with everyone else that I finally got an airbrush.
I've read excelent comments about it and since it was a gift, I ended up deciding on a Iwata HP-C.
It comes with a 0.3mm nozzle and I just wanted to ask if it is an all-purpouse nozzle, or should I think of ordering a smaller/bigger one?
I still haven't received it yet. I ordered from dixieart.com and I expect it to arrive within the next 3 weeks or so...But I'm really anxious to start airbrushing away..eheheh

Best Regards,
Pedro.

Sweet! You will love that Airbrush! Iwata's are soo smooth and soo good to control. I found out that out of my current 3 airbrush's that i have my Iwata is the one that makes everything the best. Painting model cars, drawing, and painting on T-shirts! My Iwata Eclipse BCS came with a 0.5mm Nozzle and it sprays pretty fine but also sprays good enough for models. I have a Badger which is supposedly 0.3mm and it sprays a little bit fine, its the 100SGF and they use them for nails, i use them for details on my Art work. I'm not sure if they sell any larger nozzles for that airbrush. For my models im currently using my Paasche VL airbrush size 3 = Medium, its a little bigger than 0.5mm. But, im sure you can pull off models with that HP-C. Congrats on your new Iwata!
