Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”
I really like it.. I can imagine it being welded by a cranky old stick welder with whatever welding rod was handy. If the slag wasn't knocked off it could very well look like that.

It took me a couple of joints to realise just how little and thin the putty "worm" needs to be - almost like button thread in thickness. However, I think that when painted up they should be OK. Also, as you say, if they were too small they would be barely noticeable. I like Dan's philosophy! ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are some photos I took from something closer to actual viewing distance. Would you agree that they are not so "in your face" from a couple of feet? (of course the shitty lighting and contrast helps :s) ![]() ![]() Installed and plumbed the brake lines (artistic license applied liberally here!) ![]() First thoughts on a dio setting. I am thinking late spring/early summer BBQ by the lake. ![]() ![]() ![]() Cheers ![]()

Just let me know when the BBQ's on and I'll be there! Hopefully we can connect the battery and get that thing going? Great detailing S!

So cool. This is just getting better and better. Can't wait to see what else you can do with it.

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”
So what do YOU do while you are waiting for paint to dry?
Me? I put a torch to Jean Paul! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The flashlight just sort of "happened" this morning over the space of 30 mins ![]() I had something in the dehydrator and while I was waiting, I started playing around with a piece of styrene chucked into my Dremel Stylus to see if it could work as a mini-lathe using my scalpel. The first cut I made reminded me of a flashlight head and I just took it from there. The buttons are just nibs of wire and the head is a circle of BMF punched out with a belt hole maker. I think it makes a nice "optional extra" for JP's interior but it's sooooo tiny! Cheers! ![]()

Hi Stevenski,
brilliant and hilariously funny!!! I like all the little odds and ends...looks like it comes together well. Are you going to put license plates on it? If so...make sure you choose a country w/o any rules and regulations ![]() Cheers from Germany (yeah...I'm back after 9 months) |

![]() ![]() The roll cage is painted and now needs to be weathered. TBH I couldn't be bothered to use salt masking this time so I'll be trying to add chipping etc. with a paint brush or something. My feeling is that the welds are already looking good. There is just one problem - due to the way I constructed the cage to be allow for final assembly, there is one place where I simply cannot add welding and its absence will be sorely missed. The paint I used was a cheap automotive acrylic lacquer spray can. Due to the minimal surface area of the roll cage and to minimize wastage and gassing my family, I sprayed some out into a plastic party cup and poured it into my airbrush cup. Fantastic! nice and thin paint that needed no additional thinners and dried quickly. ![]() Also last night, rather than do any serious modeling, I made some more junk for the interior. We can now be sure that Jean Paul won't get lost. We also know where he is going for his barbecue - Le Mans! The maps are images found on google maps and printed on plain paper. The guide book cover comes from amazon.com, printed on paper and glued to a block of styrene. ![]() We also know that JP is politically incorrect and does not care about his health ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just a small brick of styrene masked off and sprayed red. Black squiggly lines with a fine tipped ink pen to indicate writing. I wonder if I will uncover anything more about JP's lifestyle....? ![]()

hmmm. Be careful, you may be the next target of the cigarette lawyers! Did you get permission to add that pack to your model?

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”
WOW great update!!
Great ideas! That roll cage PERFECT! I don’t think at all that the welding seams are big, not at all, just think that they are not made by robots in a fancy factory, nor by an specialized welder in a beautiful workshop with high tech equipment, this roll-cage probably was made by JP cousin or somebody else in the backyard and I think it is a great job!! The diorama idea sounds great! The flashlight and cigarette details are awesome!! Those tiny details enhance a lot the car and give some life to the model. The coil wires… I still think they look thick, LOL! Thanks and keep us posted! This build is a lot of fun (as all your builds)

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”
Excellent build-up and I like all the little details you add to JP. Your build makes me want to give my Citroen 2CV much better diorama setting and weathering.

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”
Stevensky!!!!!!!!
My jaw is on the floor!!! What a beautiful job, and I say it honestly, I AM VERY IMPRESSED with that job on the hood, I can say with no doubt that it is one of the best finishes I have seen here, and also one of the most (if not the most) realistic weathered finishes I have ever seen, the dents, the rust, the chips, the dirt, every detail look so real! Would you mind telling us how you did it? I mean, I think this work is worth a detailed step by step explanation, would you? Hats off Sr.! And have all my respect.
