Re: Alclad II vs. Kosutte Gin San...bye, bye Alclad!
Nice job, I can see how it works!
I use Alclad products for doing the metal finishes, but this certainly has its own use!

Hi guy,
Yes, I've applied the product on the clear coat. Of course, you must wait for the lacquer coat are completely dry.

I do not know. But I'm going to experiment with or Klír Future. Anyway, the Kosutte Ginsan seems to be more resilient to the touch, about Alclad. I promise to do some tests and publish the photos of the process.

The clearcoat (future or vernish) brakes the Gin San effect.
To avoid the wipe off you need to buff hard the Gin San. |

Re: Alclad II vs. Kosutte Gin San...bye, bye Alclad!
Maybe a stupid question, but is 325 mesh graphite powder the same as Kosutte Gin San? I saw someone on youtube, saying he used that and that he gets the same results..
"I'm using -325 mesh graphite powder right now, in place of the much more expensive Gin Sun. Seems to do the same thing!" |

Since it's kinda on topic, can you clear (with urethanes) Alclad chrome without it ruining the effect? |

Re: Alclad II vs. Kosutte Gin San...bye, bye Alclad!
powdered graphite is more of an industrial product.
325 mesh is the filter size that the powder is sieved through. normally, it's used as a non-grease and ultra dry lubricant between metal surfaces in engineering application and is occasionally sold in hardware stores as a lubricant product for applying on hinges and door locks but i'm not sure if that would be of the same fine particle size as 325 mesh. I've seen in some art/sculpture supplies stores as well but again, not sure if it'd be 325 mesh.

DM--if you just run a pencil over a piece of plastic, you get a very similar, "chrome-type" effect from the graphite. It does seem sensible to think that it may work. Plus the two look remarkably similar...
