No , these are part of my childrens inheritance. My job is going really well, got promoted last year hiking my pay up a bit more, the children aren't costing us as much as they are no longer in nappies (aka diapers ) and it's better for me to buy these and keep them for the children to appreciate when they are older rather than me getting drunk every night and p***ing the money up a wall . If the money is available to buy them I go for it, they can only go up in value

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

Glad to hear all those good things.

I agree too - most of these will only continue to appreciate in value. That's a good selling point for the 'significant others' if they ever happen to notice the prices.

I would still prefer to keep the models untouched, and possibly tape over the numbers. Good that I don't have that problem as I have the single AM023/24 issues.

At least couple weeks ago one ABL006 Lark set was on sale at Yahoo! Japan auctions by a seller "flkevo2".

Now there's only the signed Marlboro #2: http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n76484466

Almost everything in this world is for sale if someone offers to pay enough, the problem is just to find them if the owner doesn't offer them for sale.

Hmmm it was very interesting indeed. Something clicked me also, including the very cheap price tag.
But..... this could easily be the #01R with it's testing livery, only the wheels are wrong colored, atleast the wheels....

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

No - #01R's testing livery, as Doc just mentioned, would have had the grey portion at the bottom. The black portion was not flat or matte black like that model either.

Also, tail lamps are wrong, roof scoop is wrong, side skirts are wrong, nose vents are wrong, wheels are the wrong color like you said, windshield banner is missing, and the tires should be Michelins not Goodyears.

In the end, it's just someone's fanciful idea of what would look cool as a model, not a reproduction of anything that ever existed.

Also same goes for the 19R, only UT (named incorrectly "street GTR" maybe to refer 54GT?) has it in gloss black as the original Barcelona 1997 test car (but without the few Michelin/BMW decals) and others have made it incorrectly in that matte/flat black.
I also hope this really much!!!
#01R in it's testing livery, please thank you very much!
Also the Pre-Qualifying livery would be very nice. Sadly only Autobarn has one good detailed model, including the drivers names on the side. IXO has it also, with out those names. Price difference is huge, IXO's 50€ and Autobarn very detailed one over 250€ today I think.

Minichamps is releasing 1/18 scale #01R this spring, March I think, hopely.
I can't wait to see it, it must be good. I HOPE!

I have some same thoughts about this.
1/18 are very showfull, details showed well and opening doors and those things, but then the 1/43's are some way more official, or something.
If the model has been build well, detailed well and not looks cheap; it's stunning to watch.
Exp. my 1/43 Minichamps LP400 Countach is increbile to watch. Very very good model, much better build than IXO's Countach's!!

Yep, I think you're perfectly right here.
I also can't really see the purpose these "fantasy" models, maybe some one is interested these but example I want the model, which is based on the real car. Like seems we all want.

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

I just checked my archives of MWS 1/12 Macs and found they already had a quite similar "carbon" GTR'96 in similar matte/flat black as that new Meko.

MWS seems to have more details but from closer inspection of the images of that Meko's one, I would say Meko got the mold/pattern better. Also Meko offers a view through the rear grille to the engine bay. So let's hope they do the real ones next, not the fantasy versions and corrects the interior as it seems to be taken from the road car, not from GTR/LM.

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

Not sure if it was mentioned but Kyosho has multiple 1:64 variations and Minichamps is releasing one in 1:18, and Hot Wheels in 1:64 should be out in the next few weeks.

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

Minichamps new releases should be out on sale on March. If there has again some delay.

Sadly the base have incorrectly the chassis numbers as they were vice versa, but if it annoys too much maybe you can put a sticker on them and write the correct ones over.
It was relatively easy

from this

to this
