Z with 8 speed???
I read somewhere online that they are thinking of putting an 8 speed mauel transmission into the Z...then in the skyline. Has anyone else heard anything about ths?? An 8 speed would be...i can't find the words...but just totally WOW.

A sports car with an 8 speed tranny? Sounds like a new truck, only big rigs have lots of gears, I would hate a car with 8 gears, that would be messed. I think they should just stop at 6 and be done with it.

i agree wit Takeshi. my opinion is that if they ever made this 8 speed-manual tranny on the Z or the Skyline, man OH man, and wuts so good about the 8 speed-manual tranny anyways??

FIRST ITS A RWD AND WITH THE WHEIGT ID SAY ID BE ABOUT A 3.27 REAR END MAY BE UP TO A 3.55
CAN U IMAGIN SUCH A LOW AS FIRST GEAR. 0- LIKE MAYBE 14.4 MPH 2ND WOULD RUN U TO ABOUT 30 MAY BE 35 IF YOU DONT BLOW IT UP 3RD SAY BOUT 50 4TH ABOUT 70-80 5TH 100 HA HA 6TH 135 OHH SH*T NOW UR FLYIN <THIS WOULD HAVE TO BE THE 1:1 7TH 150 < UNLESS YOU GOT SH*T LOADS OF HP <.8:1 8TH 180 < .65-.72???? SOMETHING AROUND THERE NO WAY U COULD GET INTO 7 OR 8 IF YOUR DOIN LESS THAN 110 IN A SIX TOP SPEED IS 156 CAN U IMAGIN ILL DO IT......JUST DONT MISS THAT SHIFT....AND GET A GOOD AS SCATTER SHIELD!!! Maybe it is a 7spd forward and 2spd reverse? I had a teacher who had 7spd on his Corvette and he had two reverse gears.

I heard the same... they are thinking of putting it in the new GTR which is supposed to be based on the 350Z body (the GTR will no longer have the skyline badge). But then again their are a lot of rumors going round about the GTR.

I hate rumors.....just gets my hopes up....an 8 speed just seems to be over kill....what's after that....12 speed....turning into a Huffy. I just hope they put turbos on the 350 SOON. ZXTT...I want your car.

I've never heard of a sports car with an 8-speed manual (or even the suggestion of it) before. I have seen an 8-speed automatic, however. The afforementioned Corvette, I suspect, has the 8-speed torque tube assembly I saw a few weeks ago. I agree that 6 is enough. Basically, my ideal transmission is 5 well-spaced forward gears (3rd gear right in between the weak/strong side) and a sixth as a deep overdrive (for the highway). I don't care how short the shifter throw is, trying to add more shifts is going to make my ETs slower, and increase the chances of missing. It seems to me that we're making engines dynamic enough that we don't have to make up for them with insane numbers of gears. If you need to change the gear ratio in tiny increments, get a CVT. Of course, I've yet to see a CVT that would be able to handle 280+ hp.

Absolute Rumor- The 7 speed manual hasn't even been done yet- the 8 speed would be pointless in a car liek the Z- 6 Gerars is more than enough thank you very much

slightly off topic but whatever.. the closest thing to this 8-speed rumor is the 7-speed mercedes benz reality automatic...

Ferrari is the only one with plans of a car with tranny with over 6 speeds. It will have a 7 speed. As for the Z, GTR, skyline, g35coupe, NO WAY ARE THEY GOING TO DO THAT.
