i am looking to have an engine swap preformed on my car. it's a 2000 honda civic ex. right now it's got the standard 4 cylinder, 1.7 liter, 117hp motor. what i want to do is have this one replaced with something substantially more powerful. the problem is that i have only a basic knowlege about cars. i dont know what engine would be best, what would actually fit or operate effectively? i was thinking along the line of a nissan maxima motor or a mustang motor or something like that. it's an automatic car and i prefer to keep it that way cuz im not a serious race fan, but i like the idea of having a ridiculously overpowered honda. if i could find and engine with about 250-300hp that would work okay i dont care what it costs. i was looking at these ATK engines but again, i dont know if you could a chevy 350 v8 330hp engine in a civic bay. that link is http://www.atk-engines.com/download/highperf.txt if anyone can let me know if this is at all possible, how to get started even or if this is just a dumb idea all together i'd appreciate it. my email is

it won't fit.... wait i take it back... it will fit... but u will have to pay major $$ or know how to fabricate things..... also u'll need a new suspension for the extra weight... and keeping the thing automatic.... good luck..... i think your better buying a Chevy.... and its just a no no of mine... but mixing domestic and import parts together just makes me naucious

you have a 1.6 liter motor in your 2000 civic. only 1.7's made by honda are in the 7th gen (2001 and up) civics and why the hell would you want a domestic motor in a civic!!!!! sure it can work but you would have to cut the firewall and extend it back also you would have to custom mount the bitch in there somehow. i am guessing around 10k if not more for the complete job.
