Civic Squeal

It seems the past 2 weeks whenever i drive my car it squeels. Like a high pitched squeel that comes from the engine , what could this be? Timing belt of some sort ?

you'd really better hope its not your timing belt, and if it is get it replaced NOW. if your timing belt breaks, you'd be lucky if your engine could be repaired. More than likely it'll be destroyed. How many miles you got on your car and when was the last time your timing belt was changed? Timing belts need to be replace around every 75,000 miles.

More than likely its the other belts down there - fan, alternator, power steering, ac... could be any of them. If one of the belts start squealing, you might as well get all of them replaced. It'll save you some money on labor, and the other's will start to do it soon too anyway.

I'm trying to remember how much everything was. To replace the timing belt, it's my understanding that they have to pull the block out. Whether they do or not, I'm not sure, but I seem to remember that to get the timing belt replaced along with all the other belts (since they have to remove the other belts to access the timing belt, you won't get charged any more labor to get the other belts replaced) cost me around $300. I really don't know if that's accurate, cuz i had a lot of maintenence done to my car within a couple months of getting the belts replaced. I'll try to find the service records and get back to you on it. Or maybe someone else will know more accurately? anyone?
