In progress Porsche

Here is something I have ben picking at from time to time. I had to scratchbuild the front half of rollcage and lowered ride height to appropriate level. Body is now ready for prime and paint. This Porsche 935 "Moby Dick" is one of my favorite racing Porsche's along with the 917 and Silver Martini Turbo Carrera RSR.

It is Tamiya's 935-78 kit#24010. This car used the engine from the aborted IndyCar program and was the first Porsche racecar with water cooled heads that were macjhined so precisely no headgasket was used, I think it was also 4 valves per cylinder and definitely twin turbo.
Porsche really knew how to stretch the rules to the limits of interpretation.
By the way Kunta has done a nice build of this car on his website. Check the Porsche section.I hope mine looks that good.

Kunta's Porsche 935-78

Moby, a 935 with a hormone problem.

It's stellar. Make sure you build it in a proper scene (tail swung waaaayyy out once the boost kicks in halfway through the rev range mid-corner)
