How do i fix my tachometer?

I have an 89 z24 and the tachometer isn't working. It seems like its stuck at 5000 rpm. if i go above 5000 it moves but it won't drop any lower than 5000. if someone could give me some ideas on why it does this i would appreciate it.

That's weird... I would pull it all out and remove the glass and maybe see if it's stuck for some reason and can't go below that. Removing the gauge pod takes like 5 minutes, and a tach is pretty important.. so it's worth it to take a look. My temp gauge used to be inacurate becuase the previous owner had taken off the gauges and done something, so I took it back out, adjusted it, and now it's fine.
