In progress - Tamiya VW New Beetle
This is a photo of my semi-completed VW New Beetle. I temporarily used the motorized chassis from another Tamiya New Beetle, just for photo shooting. The body is painted in Tamiya spray Italian Red and photo contrast is enhanced with Adobe Photoshop.
I have yet to complete the chassis painting & assembly, and the interior passenger compartment an dashboard. As for the body shell I have completed everything except putting on the antenna, which I am still apprehensive as I know if I spill glue or if the antenna drops before the glue dries... ![]() As per my earlier thread on chassis painting, I am having a hard time to make the chassis paint job look "acceptable". Anyway, this is my first attempt at painting and modelling a car. I did this with tips from what I have read in AF and esp. thanks to folks like "primera-man", "the syndicate", "daggerlee" and other regulars. |

Yes, the shine is helped by photoshop (so I cheated
), otherwise I found the photo too dark. Below are the shots without "curve" correction.

Thanks for the compliments.
This is my first car model kit (to be completed yet) and I chose the Tamiya new beetle because it is soooo cute. I also choose Tamiya because the kit is so sharp and accurate. I always dreamt of seeing a beetle in chilli red unfortunately those red new beetles I see on the roads in Singapore are of a certain hue that is slightly dull and off the primary red colour. And thats why I choose Tamiya Italian Red for this new beetle --- to fulfill my dream in 1/24 scale

nice work, you can use white glue to stick the atenna on, get it tacky then stick it on.. if you mess up,, you can always wipe up with water, wont mess up the paint job
