Um, I'm gonna point out the obvious here. A mark 4 supra is going to cost at least $20,000 for a decent one and is not something that most people should have as a first vehicle.

As a first car, a Supra is going to be quite the handfull. Not only is the cost, mod costs and insurance going to be quite high, you'll probably kill yourself in a week.

You should be looking for a decent car that you can do some work on and increase performance as you go along instead of a car to "show my cusin up". Learn to drive well. Learn how a car works so you know the implications of any mods you do. Give it time - you'll live longer (and save some $$).

Yeah, civics are good cars to start out on, personally I'd go for a GSR integra myself though but their a bit pricier. Either a fourth or fifth gen civic hatch would be good.

The main thing is to not get wrapped up in the hype and the appearence thing. Remeber, funtion before fashion Having a nice looking car is fine, and a definite plus but it shouldn't come before the performance and maintenance of the car.

Do some reading, learn about how an engine works in general maybe buy a busted engine of some type from a scrapyard and make a summer project out of rebuilding it. No need to increase the power or anything, just get it running well. This sort of practice will make things much easier when you actually do work to make your real car faster and if you can do your own work you can make your car much faster than someone who can't and you can do it for half the cost, not to mention the props you get for actually knowing what your doing and doing your own work. You can also eventually make some cash of it if you do work for others.

Read some books, take a night class at a community college in engine repair or basic mechanics or just find a friend or relative who knows about cars and ask them for some lessons. Anyone can make a car fast by throwing money at it, but if you know your stuff you can make a car fast for very little money. Hell, the fastest civic on AF was built for like $5000 including purchase of the car(admitedly you do have to goto school for a while to get to the point of hybridsol, but meh).
