Post Saddam on The History Channel

Last night I was flipping channels and stopped at The History Channel as I do on a regular basis. Low and behold they had back to back episodes discussing Saddam Hussein. The first episode I watched was about tid bit about his life growing up, but more about how his mentallity and how he has absolutely no conscience. They had interviews with several Iraqi men who were held as prisoners in the torture chambers. One of the men was beaten so bad that his back was broken and couldn't walk for several months. He also talked about how they shoved something in his rectum(yes its graphic but he got more detailed). One of the former prisoners did note that he realized later that they seemed to be beaten but in a way to where there are no permanent scars. There was so many things that they talked about I can't remember off the top of my head. The second episode was totally about his life growing up. He was unwanted by his mother so he was sent to live with his uncle who could be the one responsible for Saddam's mentallity. His Uncle told him there is no one he could trust. For his 10th birthday he received a pistol which he used to kill one of his teachers, this was his first murder. Saddam means destroyer(if i remember correctly). I didn't finish watching the rest of the second episode b/c it was late and I fell asleep. Just curious to see if anyone saw this, if not I strongly suggest it if you can catch it on. It is a must watch in my opinion if you have any interest in History(which if you post in this forum you will).

Yeah that relates to the topic

I didn't watch any TV the last few days. Its been way to nice outside to be watching the tube. The History channel does repeat shows all the time so it shouldn't be to hard to catch the shows again.

I saw a program about saddam on either Discovery or History. Doesn't sound like yours is the one I watched though some things are similar like his uncle and all.

I showed his good points and his bad points. He did do some good like bring education to his people which Iraq suffered from a lack of. However, it still does not make him a nice person as he still was a sick bastard.
