breaking in new pads and rotors (more complicated than the title states)
hi,
I just purchased some new Brembo Blanks and some new AEM HP brake pads for my 1990 Integra. My current rotors are warped and my brake pads are unevenly worn (top is more worn than bottom & inside pad more worn than outside pad). I have been reading about how you are supposed to break in rotors and pads separately, but I was wondering if I break in my rotors with my old pads, will this cause the rotors to warp (since the pads are slighly deformed, we're talkin about 1mm at most here). I was thinking of maybe putting my new brake pads on my old warped rotors and breakin in the pads and then puttin on the new rotors and breaking in the rotors with the new (recently broken in) pads. what are your thoughts on this? |

You are supposed to break them in together. Whenever you switch to new pads you are supposed to get the rotors resurface so they will welcome the newer pads (since pads wear out quicker than rotors in most cases).
Do 5 60-0 stops medium pressure And then do 5 30-0 stops light pressure then let the car sit overnight.

When I got my Power Slot rotors (as I'm sure you remember reading when you had yours) it states that you aren't supposed to make and sudden or heavy stops for the first 200-500 miles of having them on. I'm sure with blanks it's a little different break on proccedure, but would the 5 medium 60-0 stops be too much for the break in process?
Also with my rotors it says you have to periodically heat cycle them. What exactly does that entail to do?

![]() To heat cycle means to get on the brakes HARD enough to heat them up. I would figure this would bed in the pads again since Slotted rotors clean the pads everytime you use them, but they can also glaze your pads - turns them into glass.

If my wheels are getting warm or hot from braking, isn't this like a constant thing anyways? Or what's different about it?
