I think Milliardo was refering to the support of the Iraqis.

The politicians have ignored the wishes of American military advisers and sent a relatively small ground force to occupy Iraq. The politicians had this warm fuzzy notion that the Iraqi people were going to rise up against Saddam Hussein, and that they[the U.S.]would be seen as liberators.
In practice, they are being seen for what they are.

Invaders.

By storming into Iraq and bombing the hell out of the place ,the U.S.army will seize conntrol of the land, but whether the rightful owners want them in Iraq is another matter. If the Iraqi people were to say at the end of this war,"we don't need your help, please go away"I can't imagine for one second that George Bush would order his troops out of their home.

Even in allied countries, theAmerican forces have a history of cuasing resentment.During the Second World War,their prescence in England undoubtedly saved Britain from an invasion by the Germans, but the British very quickly tired of their attitude.A common derogatory saying at the time was"over-paid,over-sexed and over here".

If allied civillians find it hard to deal with large numbers of troops cluttering up their country,Ishould imagine that the resentment runs far deeper when a bad leader is forcibly removed and your country is occupied by another bad leader.

I have another question, If it doesnt concern your country and doesnt have an effect on you, why should your opinion count for anything? Bush is my president not yours, so if you got problems with the way things are in the world why dont you write a letter to your president!
My country has, in the last few years.

Told America[and every other nuclear nation] that it is not welcome to send nuclear-armed or nuclear-propelled vessels into our territorial waters. This far it has cost us a lot of trade with the States, but so be it.

Disbanded our fighter aircraft squadrons and chanelled our military spending into more practical projects.

Supported U.N. peacekeeping initiatives in Bosnia,Afghanistan,East Timor and the Gulf.

It's a big commitment to peace and the United Nations from a small country, and the only thanks we have got for the U.S. is de facto trade sanctions, the dismantling[by the U.S.] of the ANZUS defence agreement, and the spectale of your latest president flipping the bird at the rest of the world, and starting another prolonged war in the Middle East.
Capturing Iraq will be the easy part.Keeping American troops safe while they are stationed there without infringing the rights of the rightful owners of Iraq will be much harder.

Pity I didn't see the post before you edited it,I would have been interested to see your true reaction. You'd have to be pretty persistent in your predjudices to fail to take all of my posts on the subject of anti-Americanism. I'm not anti- American.I'm anti-war, and anti any elected leader who sends his own people to their deaths for the sake of Empire. To that end, I oppose Saddam,I oppose Blair,I oppose Howard.I oppose the oppression of civilians everywhere and the uneccesary deaths of soldiers who have been led to believe that by attackingA nation that they are defending their country from a pan-Arabic ideology.

Oh,and there's another guy I oppose, but you knew that already.

Come on now. Not everybody that criticizes us is anti-American.

Around 75 percent of New Zealand's electricity demand is met by renewable resources, mainly hydro (about 67 percent in 1998) and geothermal (6.5 percent). Over two-thirds of hydroelectricity is generated in the South Island, and all geothermal electricity is generated in the North Island. The balance is met by natural gas (22 percent), coal, wind and landfill gas. [statistics NZ]

New Zealand has a high earthquake risk, and nuclear power is not considered a safe option.

I've made it pretty clear that I support the U.N.,I support the Red Cross,I support CND and I support my local police force.I support our government and I support our military, who confine their activities to domestic defence and U.N.-initiated peacekeeping and anti-terrorism missions.I support the concept of territorial rights for every country, including Iraq, and I support anyone who would get rid of George Bush.I support the American way of life, the Constitution[except the silly bits about bearing arms],and I support the Hurricanes rugby team.

however way we argue it at this point the fact is that the war is winding down to its conclusion. however, the war with iraq may not be the biggest challenge for america. how bush handles the aftermath of the war and its subsequent resturcturing of iraq's government may reposition america in a different light. the level of involvement from the us in iraq's resturcturing may be more delicate than the decision to attack iraq.
