everything is already custom fabbed together by them to bolt on and be the easiest installation so they charge more. Plus they have to pay for their company.
Usually things I list in a KAT setup is not ALL the parts you need. I do leave lots of little things out, as well as intercooler/hot pipe plumbing. You also have to weld in some flanges for oil lines on the turbo, as well as get quite a few new gaskets...Manifold gasket, turbo flange gasket, external wastegates even have gaskets I believe. You will need to customize some piping or get someone to do it for you, intake pipe from turbo to air filter, or MAF..... downpipe.... hot pipe from Turbo to intercooler or Throttle Body. Also intercooler if you have it to Throttle body or blow through MAF. Most people also weld on BOV flanges and install one of those on the turbo piping........ lots of little extra things that don't really cost that much to obtain... just make sure you have it all when u goto start a project. |

yeah sr20detpower basicly summed it all up. the main reason they charge more is because they do the work of piecing it together. plus a lot of people are afraid to piece together their own turbo kit so this is why the turbo companies can charge so much. it really isnt hard to do it at all by yourself. if you dont have access to a welder or dont know how, then just take your car to a shop and they can do all the pieces that you cant by yourself, such as welding on the bov flange, wastegate flange (if the turbo manifold didnt already have one welded on), custom i/c piping, etc... just take time and research, you can do it yourself for way cheaper.
