Starting Problem

Hey guys I need everyones help on this one.

I got a '85 318i, and i'm having some starting problems. When i go to start it up i'll turn the keep and you hear the engine trying to start up but it takes a long time and sometime never to start up. So far I have replaced my rotor and distributor cap. I have checked my spark plugs and their wires, they all check out fine. This is where i need everyone to fill in the blanks, if ya got time help out. Thanks.

Matthew

did you do anything recently like take it through a car wash?? i hope not. i had something like that happen to my 92 and it was the crank sensor. i would also check fuel pump and brain box and making the brain being the last thing you check. good luck and post your results.

Cool Starting Problems?

I had the same problem on my '89 e30 316i. the problem is a fuel pressure problem with there being a small valve controlling the fuel flow. Does the car start straight away the second time if she doesnt the first time? the problem is that there is no fuel at the engine and it has to come all the way from the tank. Not exactly sure what part it is but it could be the fuel pressure regulator located under the inlet manifold or else maybe there is a flow control valve between there and the tank.
