square tires!!!
Well,
I guess you can say I'm a shithead tonight. I was cruising with a few friends and we were being "naughty". Anyway, I was doing about 85 and passing 3 of my friends when I was pulling closer and closer to the car in front of me. I didn't want to cut my friend off (said I had plenty of room) so I nailed the brakes. Needless to say, they locked up for the next 150 ft. or so. Now, I have flat spots on my 2 front tires. Anyone know what to do about this other than buy new meats? They aren't really "flat" but worn a lil in that one area. I have been doing some nice burnouts tonight trying to "round" them back out. I know people that run autocross get their tires shaved to the min. tread depth and I was wondering if I should have mine done just till they are back in "round". Any advice?

yeah, you just gotta drive em off. i got a couple of bad flat spots doing a 60-0 stop and i couldn't help but lock the wheels up unfortunately, but it kept me from rear ending the lexus in front of me. but yeah, just gotta drive em off.

Find a tire shop that does DOT race tires (I'm not taling drag racing here......real racing...like with corners).
Anyway, after that jab (let the flaming begin), they should have a tire shaving machine for turning tires. For racing you shave tread. They should be able to make you tires round again. Or you could put up with it. |

Buy new tires...with that long of a lock up they're junk. Doing burnouts will help a little but not enough, will still be a nice shake to the car while driving.

first of all, most of you guys restated what I already had. I DID do about 10 burnouts last night and it didn't seem to help. I DID say something about shaving them down. I didn't say anything about driving it out though. How are flat spots gonna come back into shape? The rubber is melted. I was hoping the burnouts would just get rid of the rubber surrounding it to come down to the flat spots size. burnouts suck on the motor though so I'm done with that for now. I think I am gonna check about shaving them down.
I moved them to the back this morning and it isn't AS bad but it still vibrates. It doesn't do it so bad during braking like it did due to weight transfer and such. Oh well, I fucked up and now I pay the price. Have a nice day!
