I need to buy a new keyless transmitter for my 97 Malibu, model # 16207901-5, FCC AB01502T. Does anyone know if I have to get the exact same model number or if other models will work? Also, need info on programming instructions.

It will have to be the same to work. The GM Part number for the transmitter is 16245103.

So is the GM number on the back of the transmitter something different than the part number? I've been shopping on Ebay using the number on the back of the transmitter. See first posting for the number on back.

key fob
i used a key fob of the same ftc as you listed but of a different part number and all 3 worked. however i tried with one of a different ftc number and they didnt so i think the ftc is the only number that you need to match from what i experienced.
