Masking question...Tamiya's Jordon 191

I am expecting to get this kit in the mail in a few days and have a few questions about how I should approach masking the body for painting. I have attached a pic as a reference to what I'm talking about (got picture off of gpma.org/kit was made by Eric Evain). I have some experience at airbrushing solid colors on cars but never had to spray 2 seperate colors before. Here's my question: do I start out spraying...let's say the green first and have it overlap into the blue area then apply the mask to spray on the blue.......or should I mask twice for each color? Any suggestions and tips will be greatly appreciated.

i havnt tried it on a model yet but when i did it on wood i did one color then mask this is how pro painters as in buildings and stuff it as well.
otherwise you risk a bad line when double masking.

The first option - you spray one colour (no masking), then mask off what you need to keep in that colour and spray the rest the other colour. And then I'd suggest clearcoating as there will be a noticeable "step" between the two colours.

in the most current issue of "SPEED" magazine down in oz they show a helmet being air brushed and they do the white line by

1. painting the helmet white
2. taping off the white part
3. spraing each colour while masking carefully
4. lift off and you have A WHITE STRIPE!

Thanks for the info and suggestions everyone. I also found a site that has some good info on masking....check it out. Now all I have to do is wait for my kit to come in and start the work on it !
